At Henbrook House Care Home, we recognise the importance of creating an inclusive environment for all our residents. For some of those living on our Memory Floor, however, larger group activities — such as our weekly live performances — can sometimes feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re delighted to introduce Cash Edwards 🎶

Cash is now a regular face at Henbrook House, providing exclusive performances for smaller groups in a familiar and comfortable environment where our residents can truly relax and enjoy the music.

It doesn’t take long before we see the difference. Anxiety begins to ease, smiles appear, and moods are lifted as our residents enjoy the sounds of Cash’s performances. ❤️

Our priority is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take part, in a way that feels right for them.

✨️Making dreams come true✨️

Henbrook House, was proud to support resident Eileen fulfil a lifelong dream by arranging her first-ever helicopter flight from Bottisham Airfield Museum near Cambridge. Taking off from the museum’s grounds, Eileen and her daughter Fiona enjoyed sweeping views of the Cambridgeshire countryside, and at some points could even see as far as Ely and Newmarket.🚁

While living in Australia, Eileen would often watch helicopters flying overhead and wonder what it would be like to see the world from that height. In the years since she has always encouraged her daughters to seize every opportunity for adventure they can. Unfortunately, reduced mobility in recent years has made it harder for Eileen to keep up with their activities.

When the team at Henbrook House asked Eileen to name an experience she would dearly love to try, a helicopter flight quickly emerged as the perfect choice. Having never had the opportunity herself, Eileen jumped at the chance to finally take to the skies.

Eileen’s excitement after the flight said it all, but her experience also illustrates a wider principle: moving into a care home doesn’t mean a resident’s horizons have to shrink. The team here at Henbrook House believe that exceptional care is about expanding what feels possible for residents by helping them fulfil ambitions they may once have thought were beyond their reach.

Eileen’s experience is a wonderful reminder that later life can still be full of anticipation and excitement. For us, exceptional care is about making those moments possible.”💙

For one afternoon only, out Bistro will be turned into the chocolate room from from Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Meet characters from the film. Walk the pathway of sweet treats or dive in and taste our chocolate fountain waterfall.

Community Connections to bowl you over 🤝

As we approach the last of our summer visits to the Eaton Socon Bowls Club, we were proud and privilaged to unveil our main sponsor board.🎉

Our monthly trips have brought connections way beyond a game of bowls. We have made new friends with club staff and members who have been simply amazing.

Some residents have benefited in the excercise the game brings, whilst others simply enjoy watching over a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. ☕️

Henbrook House prides itself in its community connections and relationships. With Jill and the team at E.S.B.C we look to maintain this special relationship for years to come.

🌞 Summer of fun, friendship and community! 🏴‍☠️🍦🎬

Over the summer, we’ve been delighted to welcome children from our local community through our doors here at Henbrook House Care for a series of Kids Clubs — and what a fantastic time we’ve had!

From pirate treasure hunts and adventures 🏴‍☠️💰 to creating delicious ice cream sundaes 🍨, and settling down for our very own cinema film club 🎬🍿, every session has been filled with creativity, laughter and plenty of fun.

It’s been wonderful to see our home come alive with the energy and enthusiasm of our younger visitors, while creating opportunities for different generations of our community to spend time together. ❤️

A huge thank you to all the children and families who joined us and helped make our summer so special. We’ve loved having you with us! 🌈

✨️ The week that was✨️

An incredible week here at Henbrook House full of fun, opportunities, and togetherness.

Our big outing this week was to Buckingham Palace but we also managed to fit in the annual Dragon boat festival, riverside coffee strolls and our monthly bowls trip with our 'Henbrook Harriers'.

Bringing the summer vibes and getting our Bistro rocking were the amazing Melanie Wilcox and Donna Samuels. 🎵🎤

Residents were putting their best forward forward with our PT Lisa as we engaged in 3 times a week fitness sessions.

Other highlights from the week were:

Pizza making with Jade🍕

Residents Karaoke🎤

Summer cocktail Making🍸

Sign language course with Pauline🫶

Our creative craft activities this week were clay rose making, sequin eggs creations and boat building where our residents were challenged to build a boat made from foil and see how many 'kit-kats' it would hold before it sank. Incredible effort with a total of 12 being our winner.

With a spot of Jenga and of course our twice weekly Bingo sessions, it made for another amazing week here in our wonderful home.🏡

👑 A Royal Day Out at Buckingham Palace! 🇬🇧✨

What a wonderful day we had! We had the pleasure of taking 7 of our residents to Buckingham Palace for a fascinating tour of the State Rooms and beautiful royal gardens. 🏰🌿

We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the rich history of the palace and gaining an insight into royal life throughout the years. There was plenty to see and discover, and it was lovely to share such a memorable experience together.

Of course, no trip would be complete without a well-deserved cuppa! ☕ We enjoyed a lovely cup of tea at the Royal Garden Café, surrounded by the beautiful gardens.

On our journey through London, we also managed to take in some of the capital’s famous sights, travelling down Whitehall and seeing 10 Downing Street and Big Ben along the way. 🚌🇬🇧

It was a fantastic day filled with history, sightseeing, laughter and wonderful memories. ❤️
