A five-person studio isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea and I’m good with that.

Because if you’ve been looking for somewhere small, personal and decidedly un-intimidating, I’d rather be exactly right for you than vaguely right for everyone.

Come and try it 😇

There have absolutely been moments since opening this studio when I’ve wondered whether I was mad…

Running a small independent space isn’t the easiest way to do this.

But then five people walk through the door…

We talk, we practise, someone tries something they didn’t think they could do, someone else has had a horrible week and finally gets an hour to themselves…

And the room feels full, not just of people… but of connection.

That’s when I remember why I wanted a space of my own in the first place 💜

I’m not trying to build something enormous.

I’m trying to build something that matters to the people who come through the door.

For a while, five spaces felt like the limitation of my studio.

Now I see it completely differently.

Cozy means personal, cozy means I can notice, cozy means you’re never just another booking on the register.

There are plenty of places doing big brilliantly.

I’m going to do cozy brilliantly 🌈🥰

One of the things I want to disrupt most about yoga is the idea that a “good” class is a room full of people making the same shapes at the same time.

Bodies are different, energy levels are different, and what you need can be different every time you arrive.

So yes, I teach the class.

But I also want you to learn to listen to yourself.

That’s one of the reasons I love teaching just five people at a time. There’s room for individuality here.

You don’t have to keep up.

You just have to show up ✨

One of my favourite things is watching someone arrive for their first class looking slightly terrified.

They’ll tell me they’re not flexible, or they haven’t exercised for years, or they’re worried they won’t be able to keep up.

And then an hour later they’re lying on the mat wondering what on earth they were worried about.

The yoga hasn’t magically made them flexible in an hour.

That’s not the win.

The win is realising they were allowed to belong in the room exactly as they arrived.

That’s the kind of first yoga class I want people to have 🤗

If “I’m not flexible enough” or “I wouldn’t know what I’m doing” has kept you away from yoga, this is for you.

You don’t prepare yourself for yoga and then come.

You come and that’s where we begin 🤗

No perfect poses, no performing, no trying to look like the person on the mat next to you.

Just yoga that meets you where you are.

And with only five people in the room, there’s actually space for me to teach you, not just teach a sequence at a room full of bodies.

I didn’t set out to create the smallest yoga studio in St Neots…

But I think I’ve accidentally created exactly the kind of place I would want to practise in.

I’ve been in the big classes, I’ve experienced walking into a room full of people who seem to know exactly what they’re doing and I’ve seen how easy it is to feel like everyone else got the memo about yoga and you somehow missed it.

And somewhere along the way, I realised I didn’t want to recreate that.

I wanted somewhere warm and personal…Somewhere I could actually know the people I’m teaching.

So there are just five mats here.

Not because I’m trying to squeeze a yoga studio into a little room.

Because five people changes the experience.

I know your name, I notice how you’re moving and there’s space to ask questions, take another option, laugh, wobble and figure things out.

Maybe small wasn’t the compromise after all.

Maybe it was the better way ✨

I’ve been talking a lot about Teen Yoga & Wellbeing recently, and now I’d really like to hear from you.

I know why I want to create these spaces for young people, but I also want to make sure what I offer actually works for the families who might use them.

My recent poll showed almost equal interest across three different age groups, which got me thinking…perhaps there’s space for more than one class.

So before I decide anything, I’m going to be asking a few questions in my Stories this week.

If you’re a local parent or carer of a young person aged 11–18, I’d really love your input.

Help me shape what Teen Yoga & Wellbeing could look like in St Neots ✨

This is the bit that matters most to me.

Teen Yoga & Wellbeing isn’t about turning teenagers into yogis.

It’s about giving young people in our community another place where they can feel welcome, supported and free from pressure.

If they leave knowing one way to calm their breathing, one way to move when they’re feeling overwhelmed, or simply knowing there’s somewhere they can come and be themselves, that’s worthwhile.

This feels like such a natural meeting point between my years working in education, my work in yoga and the direction I’m now moving in with community wellbeing.

And I can’t wait to get started.
