A Stalybridge mum’s organisation supporting women through the challenges of motherhood has secured National Lottery funding to deliver four free programmes for mothers across Tameside over the next year.

Beyond Mama CIC, founded by local mum Becci, has been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, allowing it to expand its support and remove the financial barrier for women who may otherwise struggle to access wellbeing support.

My sister has been visiting from New Zealand for the last couple of weeks. And I've seen her quite a bit. But I realised today I hadn't really SEEN her, because every time we'd met up we'd both been in mum mode. Sorting food for the kids, arranging nap times, dealing with tantrums, and most conversations being interrupted for one reason or another.

We'd not really had the chance to just be sisters. Tonight we've been for a spa get away and it's been so special to be able to turn down the outside noise and have time to connect. To hear about what she's been thinking about, what she's excited about, what's been going on in her world.

We both adore being mums and due to the nature of the role it often takes over, but it's nice to be reminded that motherhood is just one aspect of who we are. And tonight I've just been able to be her sister and that's been wonderful 🥰

Rediscover the woman beyond motherhood

Motherhood changes so much, but somewhere along the way, many of us lose sight of who we are.

Emerging Beyond Mama is a six-week wellbeing programme designed to help you reconnect with yourself beyond the role of "mum". Through guided reflection, practical tools, gentle somatic practices and connection with other mothers, you'll have space to pause, reflect and rediscover what matters to you.

Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we are able to offer this cohort free of charge. There are currently 2 fully funded places remaining on our next cohort.

Starts: Wednesday 23rd September 7pm
Duration: 6 weekly sessions
Location: Stalybridge

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or like you've been putting everyone else first, this programme is for you.

💛 Our volunteer team is officially kitted out! 💛

Thanks to funding from the Tameside Volunteer Celebration Fund through Acton Together, our Beyond Mama volunteers now have their own branded t-shirts.

Yesterday we got together for a volunteer planning meeting, where we spent time planning the months ahead, sharing ideas and thinking about how we can continue to grow a supportive community for mothers across Tameside and beyond.

These t-shirts are more than just clothing, they're a symbol of the people who give their time, energy and compassion to help build a community where mums feel welcomed, connected and supported.

A huge thank you to Action Together for making this possible through the Tameside Volunteer Celebration Fund. Your investment isn't just in t-shirts, it's an investment in the volunteers who help communities to thrive.

Meet Marianna 🤍

Marianna is joining the Beyond Mama team and will be helping to organise community events, with a special focus on celebrating different cultures and creating opportunities for connection. 🌍✨

Originally from Italy and working as a teaching assistant, Marianna understands the importance of feeling part of a community. She's passionate about helping mums build their village, particularly those who may be raising their families away from their own support networks. 🌿

We're so excited to have her as part of the Beyond Mama team and can't wait to see the wonderful events she helps bring to life. 💛

There are moments when life feels uncertain.

When the path ahead isn’t fully visible…
when plans feel less certain…
and it becomes harder to know exactly what comes next.

And in those moments… it’s easy to try to force clarity.

Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we will be delivering four Beyond Mama programmes over the next 12 months, with funded places available for mothers who may otherwise face barriers to accessing support.

These programmes support mothers experiencing isolation, overwhelm, anxiety, low confidence, body image challenges, or a loss of identity after becoming a parent.

Each programme includes six in-person sessions, guided journaling and reflection, themed discussions, nervous system regulation tools, guided visualisations and meditation, and opportunities to connect with other mums in a safe and supportive space.
