The few pics here simply don't show off what an absolute corker of an afternoon I had last Saturday at the Willoughby Hall Memorial Gallery in Corby Glen.

Invited out the blue by as part of her contribution to the current In Reference Too exhibition curated by to add my thoughts on the role of plant medicine today in response to their use demonstrated in the medieval text the Lutteral Psalter. Kate had gathered various people knowledgeable in their field for comment on various aspects of what can be seen in the art work of the Psalter.

After a summer of mainly chatting with a 3 and 6 year old, to spend an afternoon with such interesting folk on a topic quite unfamiliar to me, all accompanied by a delicious medieval feast, was an absolute joy!!

The exhibition runs to the 2nd September and is truly worth a visit! The library, gallery and building itself are beautiful - and do take a walk to the nearby church to witness the medieval Wall paintings - simply magnificent!

This unassuming babe is Verbena Officinalis, commonly known as Vervain - an easy one to pass by as you can see from the second pic and the first time I've seen it growing wildly - you can find it at Barnack Hills and Holes!

I love using Vervain in practice and it will find itself in my patient's medicines when a deeply restorative action upon the nervous system is required.

Like many herbs, it works on multiple levels. Vervain nourishes and relaxes the nervous system, opening up the circulatory system, and as a bitter herb, acts upon the liver, enabling better absorption and elimination.

I use it were there may be anxiety or over-striving and a struggle to relax.

It's also a fabulous flower essence for those who are super passionate about a particular cause, with a strong need for others to think their way too, which can cause exhaustion and low mood along the way - calming the over-enthusiasm and tension that can accompany.

It's one I wouldn't like to be without in my dispensary!!

This month come and walk the streets of Stamford to discover the medicinal and edible plants that grown in pavement cracks, in our urban green spaces and where you'll wander past them each day without realising their amazing potential!!

🌟 Herb Club for Grown Ups!

Join me this Summer Solstice weekend for an urban forage in Stamford, we'll walk slowly, noticing whats growing in the cracks, on the kerbs and the green spaces - be amazed as we discover magical medicine growing right beneath our feet!

Afterwards join me for a relaxed session with like minded people to make your own medicine that you can take home with you! This month we'll make a herbal glycerite with seasonal herbs!
