Most people know fibre is good for digestion but maybe fewer get that itâs vital for our mental health too.
Hereâs why: our gut microbiome feeds on fibre to stay happy and balanced. Itâs in regular touch with our brain microbiome (90% of the messages go from gut to brain), so if the gut is well nourished and happy then the signals it sends to the brain (âweâre safe, no need to flee or fightâ), mean we are much more likely to feel calm in our world.
So, boosting fibre really helps to fight stress and keep our minds and bodies in balance. High fibre heroes:
đapples, pears, raspberries, kiwis, oranges, figs
đ„Šbroccoli, peas, leafy greens, sprouts
đ°all nuts & seeds
đ«lentils, black beans, chickpeas, kidney beans
đŸoats, wholewheat pasta/bread, quinoa, brown rice
