I’m speaking on a podcast soon about my health transformation and what really matters in life.
While preparing for it, I came up with the ALIVE Framework
And it made me realise something.
At 53, I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever felt more ALIVE than I do right now.
Not because everything is perfect. Far from it. But because my definition of success has changed.
For years, I measured progress by what was next.
The next goal.
The next business milestone.
The next financial target.
The next achievement.
I’ve always been incredibly goal-orientated, which has served me well. But there’s a downside to constantly looking forward.
There’s a quote form Bob Marley:
“Some people are so poor, all they have is money.”
And one of my mentors once gave me another pearl of wisdom:
“Remember, some of your problems are someone else’s dreams.”
Sometimes we need to stop moving the goalposts long enough to recognise that parts of the life we’re complaining about today are the exact things we once hoped, prayed and worked for.
That doesn’t mean stop being ambitious.
It means learning to be ambitious and grateful at the same time.
Keep looking forward, but occasionally look backwards too.
Perspective changes everything.
Maybe the real goal isn’t simply to become more successful.
Maybe it’s to become more ALIVE.
