I get asked this question a lot!
Lymphatic massage uses an oil, normally incorporating a sculpting and digestive massage.
Manual lymphatic drainage is not a spa treatment.
It is a technique which targets conditions such as lymphoedema, lipoedema and after surgical procedures. No oil is used to ensure optimum drainage of the lymph.
It can be used for an overall detox but 90% of the time I find my client has approached me to target a specific area of the body.
Your therapist needs to be properly trained if dealing with a compromised lymphatic system.
They need to be collaborating with extended health practitioners, such as your GP, to continue your care.
Your therapist should have proper knowledge to drain to alternative pathways after surgery and lymph node removal.
