🌳Day One of my Forest Therapy and Nature Connection guide training with Adore Your Outdoors and I know I said I probably would not be on here very much but I felt I needed to share my experience today....

🌾What a glorious setting! The grounds, gardens and house here are simply stunning. I have visited a fair few gardens over the years but I think this is one of the best. So peaceful, tranquil, beautiful and full of wildlife....🌸

🌿 I feel very peaceful and my mind is clear of the usual random, mindless and erratic chatter. I feel a sense of deep bliss and privilege of being able to spend a whole day immersed in this beautiful setting, in nature....and I feel pretty excited about the opportunity of being able to share this with others... 🫢🌺🌳

I started my Forest Therapy and Nature Connection guide training this week with two days Zoom training 🌳

Sunday I pack up my gear and travel down to Hampshire for a weeks immersive training at Houghton Lodge Gardens. 🌿

I am part of the Hawthorn Group and this Spring the Hawthorn blossom has been especially spectacular 🌸

I will be offline during the training week but will be back afterwards to keep you updated on my progress! β˜˜οΈπŸ’š

Tomorrow I start my training with Adore Your Outdoors to become a Forest Bathing and Nature Connection guide πŸ™Œ

I am very excited about this amazing opportunity as it will enable me to run a business that involves spending time outside in nature sharing its proven healing benefits to clients πŸ’š

I enjoyed a walk this morning with my dogs, and spent time really paying attention to the birds that were singing in the trees around me.
They seem to be more prolific and active this Spring.... or maybe they are just coming through even more now..... I do feel I have been on a path of enlightenment this past few months. ✨️

I have always felt a strong love and connection to nature and wildlife but now I feel this training is somehow giving me more validation, permission and a solid path that I can follow and weave it into my daily life....as my job! 🌿

Roll on tomorrow....let the learning begin!

(Now I just need to get my brain 🧠 into learning mode again 😁)

🌿 When we were in Exmoor last week we spent about half an hour sitting and walking quietly in this little hidden valley (of which there are many down there!).

πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈSo many people walk for the sake of walking and lots would have walked straight into this dip and back out the other side without stopping to really look around.

🌳 As it is Spring there is fresh new life in abundance, and the colours are so bright and vibrant. We spotted ferns growing along the branches of trees, lots of little violets and even a tree that bore the marks of where stags have rubbed their antlers .... 🦌

🏞 There was a magical little stream running through, flowing freely over rocks, swirling around branches and into gentle curves of the banks.

🐦 The birds were singing well and that, along with the running stream was the only sound down there.

🌾So many people are disconnected from nature now, and do not realise the beauty and wonder that surrounds us in the natural world. It is free to enjoy, and has proven benefits for our mental and physical health.

🌳 This week I start my journey training as a Forest Bathing and Nature Connection guide and I cannot wait to be able to share this with people.

What happened to the warm sun?! 🌞

I start my Forest Bathing and Nature Connection guide training course next week and the group is called Hawthorn....it is rather appropriate that the Hawthorn looks particularly glorious this Spring!

Have you ever taken the time to notice how pretty the flowers are and breathe in their scent?

🌎 Apparently it is Earth Day.....and what better place to spend it than on Exmoor?

πŸ’šThis is an area we love, a place we both feel truly at home in....

The scenery here is so varied, from bleak and open moorland you could easily get lost on, to lush green hidden valleys as we explored today. 🦌

There is a surprise around every corner.

The peace and tranquility really does help boost your spirits and clear your mind from the daily onslaught of news, social media and more...

🌳 Did you know that research shows that subjects performed better on a test measuring memory and attention - and they also reported feeling happier - after walking in nature.

🌿Fact; Rumination - this is something cows do literally, but our minds do it too; chew on an unpleasant memory to create "a maladaptive pattern of self-referential thought". We might replay an unpleasant exchange over and over until we drive ourselves mad. Rumination is linked to depression and anxiety. When people ruminate, they activate a portion of their brains called the subgenial prefrontal cortex, a region also linked to sadness, withdrawal and general grumpiness.

Trials showed a significant reduction in blood flow to the subgenial frontal cortex in subjects who walked for 90 minutes in nature.....but an increase in the subjects to walked in a busy urban area

☘️The science continues to show the huge positive healing impact on us of just spending time in nature.
