Greenshoots yoga

Greenshoots yoga Greenshoots yoga offers yoga and mindfulness classes to children aged 5-18 as well as families. This school specialises in trauma lead education.

I have been a primary school teacher for 19 years, working for 4 years at St Richards Primary School in Longsight and then 8 years at Alderley Edge School for Girls. When my boys were young I left full time teaching trained as a yoga teacher-for children aged 5 plus and Teenagers. I then started Greenshoots Yoga and in the past 7 years I have taught after school clubs, yoga in schools, as well as

staff training in chair yoga and mindfulness. Currently I work as part of a pastoral team at a primary school in Trafford. I have recently completed an online Trauma sensitive course and continue to develop my training in this area. I am affiliated with Independent Yoga Network, in teaching children yoga and mindfulness. Yoga has been a fundamental part of my life for over 19 years now. In a society where expectations are high, from a young age, the yoga mat provides children with a place where they can have fun, express themselves creatively and develop their self-confidence. My aim is to give children the tools of yoga and mindfulness to draw on throughout their lives. For example; in times of emotional stress or academic pressure. Yoga and mindfulness help promote mental and physical resilience, which can be applied to everyday life. Mindfulness is also done throughout the lesson, via breathing exercises, reflection and reciting positive affirmations. Greenshoots yoga offers fun and accessible yoga and mindfulness classes to children aged 5-18. For more details of classes and Family Yoga or Yoga in schools please contact me:

I am so grateful that some of you lovely people came together on Friday evening so connect through movement, breath work, yoga and meditation-we even had time for a short tapping session at the end.

This session was about pausing from our busy lives.
Yoga can help us with the art of interoception-the art of pausing and noticing bodily sensations, as well as body signals connected to emotions, eg racing heart, perhaps signaling anxiety or fear.

Yoga can be a great way to observe and get to know ourselves, be compassionate towards them.

This way we can manifest more positive emotions, swapping negative stories for more positive ones.

All this whilst connecting, strengthening and listening to good tunes-hence changing our chemistry in our body.

After teaching this morning the lovely children I went for a walk around my way. I literally stopped to smell the roses, got judged by a very beautiful cat and reflected.

As this is I have started following
I did my degree in English Literature and have always loved escaping into a good book-once over the Trauma of English Literature A-Level!
I love using poetry and stories when teaching children yoga and wellbeing.

It helps with their empathy and takes their attention away from 'the screen', or over thinking. They can immerse themselves in another world or culture, going back in time even...
and pick up some cool new vocabulary on the way.
I love how we're starting to see more children, adults and communities celebrating reading.

Then they are inspired to write themselves! 🫢🏻

I felt so in touch with the elements on holiday last week-the power I received from this unwavering beauty πŸŒ• was intense. She believes in us all and can consistently see our absolute potential...

I'm not an arrogant person in any way but it was great to feel this bolstering power and strongly believe in my small business with big intentions.
enables me to work part time in a primary school as a pastoral teacher- as well as working in a nursery with staff and children, get booked by and run local family yoga sessions and private sessions.
I incorporate yoga, mindfulness, meditation, EFT and sometimes dance...into these sessions.
As psychotherapist says, "you can't always think your way out of anxiety-sometimes you have to come to the body first"

Thanks

These sessions run every 6 weeks and include yoga, mindfulness and regulation techniques.
All parents and children gain tools to help them navigate difficult emotions and stress.
It's also a lovely opportunity to move together.
I believe in the power of music and always play tunes, according to the class, whether it be classical piano for a relaxation or 90’s dance for a warm up.

Next session is:
Friday 12th June
St Pauls church hall
Heaton Moor
6-7pm
Β£18 for one child and one adult
I look forward to seeing some of you on the mats!🌱😊

🌱I also run private 1-1 or family sessions in your home.
This is a bespoke yoga and mindfulness session to help support children and young people (aged 5-18) with their individual needs.

Thank-you for opening and reading!
I look forward to seeing you soon,
