Pure Innovations

Pure Innovations Pure Innovations is a charity supporting people to live more independent, fulfilled lives.
(1)

We work alongside individuals to build confidence, develop skills and create opportunities through support, employment and community services. Pure became an independent charity following a TUPE transfer from Stockport Council in 2005. We are a values led, creative organisation and our objectives are to promote independence, increase choice and provide appropriate support to people to enable them

to make the most of their capacity and potential. In 1987 Employment Services was a part of Stockport Borough Council, providing employment opportunities and day care for people with a Learning Disability. We began a journey to modernise traditional day care across Stockport, moving away from larger institutions into smaller, community based settings. This move came from a strong belief in the philosophy that if we can support people to hold valued roles within communities then people with a disability would feel valued, and be recognised by others to have value. In 2005 we left the Local Authority and set up the charity Pure Innovations, continuing our vision to support a diverse range of people to live independent, healthy and valued lives in their communities. Today, we continue with our aim of supporting people to have a fulfilled life, with a sense of purpose and belonging. This can mean different things to different people and so Pure Innovations strives to provide a wide and varied offer, ranging from employment, volunteering and independent life skills to pursuing a variety of hobbies and interests. Our values have not changed over the years and have become a part of our DNA. We will be aspirational and believe in people’s ability to achieve amazing things even when they don’t believe it themselves.

Remember Alistair? Back in May, we shared the brilliant news that he had secured a new role at Manchester Airport after being made redundant when the Sainsbury’s Café in Hazel Grove closed...

After 18 years in customer service, Alistair had worked with our SMBC Supported Employment team to find his next opportunity, which came about after John from ABM Industries spotted his story on LinkedIn and got in touch.

Fast forward a few months and we’ve got another update… Alistair has passed his probation with flying colours! 🎉

We loved sharing Alistair’s story when he got the job, so it’s even better to see him doing so well a few months down the line.

Recently, teams from Pure Support, Supported Employment and Our Futures headed to AECOM for a Discovery Day, giving everyone the chance to learn more about the organisation and the different opportunities available.

Four members of the AECOM team spoke about their own roles and career journeys, as well as the different ways people can gain experience with the organisation, including volunteering, paid work experience, apprenticeships and graduate opportunities.

Opportunities like this help us build connections with employers and introduce the people we support to workplaces and careers they might not have considered before. Thank you AECOM! 💙

Nigel, Rhys and Bhav all gave up their own time to volunteer on the doors at Access Festival, helping to welcome everyone and making sure the evening got off to the best possible start 👏

Bhav has volunteered every single year since the very first Access Festival, and when we asked him why he keeps coming back, he simply said:

"I am more than happy to volunteer because I can see what this night means to our clients. Emily is such an inspiration... why wouldn't I?"

Thank you for your time, your kindness and for being such an important part of the day 💙
