As Father's Day approaches, we want bereaved fathers, their partners and families to know that Sands is here if they need support.

We know the lead up to Father's Day can feel difficult and lonely for fathers whose baby has died, no matter how long ago. It can also be tough for those who want to support someone who has been touched by pregnancy or baby loss. Please remember that we are here for you.

Dads with other children may also have mixed feelings and worry about how to approach the day, and that's ok. We have advice and tips on our website to help with self-care. And if you have a friend or family member who has experienced baby loss, we also have advice on how to support them during what can be a difficult time.

๐ŸŒ™ Letโ€™s Talk About Sleep

๐Ÿ˜ด Sleep is so important for children and young people aged 5โ€“19 โ€” it helps support growth, learning, mood, concentration, and overall wellbeing.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ A good bedtime routine, less screen time before bed, and regular sleep patterns can make a huge difference to how children feel during the day.

๐Ÿ’ฌ The Stockton 5โ€“19 team can help!

๐ŸŒŸ Our Sleep Workshops for children aged 5+ years are available both online and in person at local Family Hubs. These workshops are designed to help parents and carers better understand childrenโ€™s sleep, build healthy bedtime routines, and learn practical strategies to support better sleep habits at home. Following the workshop, helpful resources are provided along with information on how to access further support from the service if needed.

๐ŸŒ Check out our website for more information and to book on: https://hdftchildrenshealthservice.co.uk/ourservice/growing-healthy-0-19-stockton-on-tees-5-19-workshops/ ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mastitis can happen to any breastfeeding mother, and early recognition is key.

Common signs include:
โœ”๏ธ Breast pain or tenderness
โœ”๏ธ Redness or swelling
โœ”๏ธ Flu-like symptoms, including fever and chills

If you notice these symptoms, continue feeding or expressing milk regularly and seek advice from your healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen.

Save this guide for future reference and share it with a breastfeeding parent who may find it helpful. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’š GCSE season can feel overwhelming at times, especially when youโ€™ve been revising for weeks and trying to manage pressure, expectations and emotions.

Our Emotional Resilience Practitioner wants young people to remember that looking after your mental health is just as important as revision ๐Ÿ“š

Tips for managing stress and anxiety during exam season:
๐ŸŒฟ Get outside for some fresh air
๐Ÿšถ Go for a short walk or move your body
๐Ÿ‘ซ Spend time with friends and people who make you feel good
๐Ÿ’ง Stay hydrated
๐Ÿ˜ด Prioritise sleep and rest
๐ŸŽง Step away from revision guilt-free and take proper breaks

Sometimes feeling overwhelmed, emotional, irritable, exhausted or struggling to concentrate can be signs of burnout, and thatโ€™s your mind and body telling you it needs a reset ๐Ÿ’š

Taking breaks is not wasting time. Rest helps your brain recharge so you can come back calmer, clearer and more focused.

Be kind to yourself, take things one step at a time and remember, exams do not define who you are โœจ

Itโ€™s easy to put off. But cervical screening could help prevent cervical cancer - getting treatment early can save your life!

If youโ€™re aged 25 to 64 and have a cervix, youโ€™ll usually be invited for cervical screening every 5 years. It checks for high-risk HPV and can help find changes early.
