We need to retire this myth. 👋

And honestly, we understand where it came from.

⏰ When IPL first appeared on the market, the technology wasn’t what it is today.

Then laser hair removal became more widely available and, at the time, laser technology could offer a more advanced and targeted approach than the early IPL machines.

Things clients ask us before having hair removal…

Should I shave prior to my consultation?

Please do not remove hair from the area to be treated prior to your consultation as we need to see the hair.

Does it hurt?

The sensation varies for everyone but there is mild discomfort.

Will it work on my hair?

Hair colour and skin type matter. There needs to be pigment in the hair for the light to travel down into the hair shaft and kill off the dermal papilla which feeds the hair. Skin tone also matters as darker skin tones need to be treated more carefully due to the amount of pigment (melanin) in the skin. At your consultation we will carry out a patch test so that you can get an idea of how the treatment will feel and we can check how your skin reacts.

Can I have it if I've got a tan?

Treatment would need to be postponed because tanning increases risk and can affect treatment suitability. That's why we recommend starting your hair removal sessions in Autumn.

Can I wax between treatments?

No - you can shave as much as you like in between sessions but waxing takes the hair from the root. As we need the hair to be attached in order for the treatment to be effective, waxing, depilatory creams and plucking are a no, no!

Is it permanent?

The aim is long-term hair reduction, although results vary and maintenance treatments may sometimes be needed we can safely say that we can achieve around 95% hair reduction.
