During this heatwave, it’s important to know that some mental health medications can affect how your body responds to heat, increasing the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

This can include some antidepressants, antipsychotics and anti-anxiety medicines.

If you take medication:
πŸ’§ Drink plenty of water
🏠 Stay cool and avoid the hottest part of the day
πŸ’Š Keep medicines stored according to the instructions and out of direct heat and sunlight
⚠️ Never stop taking prescribed medication without medical advice

If you feel unwell, dizzy, confused, unusually agitated, or think you may be experiencing heat exhaustion, seek medical advice.

For more information, speak to your pharmacist, GP, NHS 111, or visit the NHS and GOV.UK heat health guidance - www.gov.uk/guidance/mental-health-medications-and-extreme-weather
