I am the founder of The Jaine Resilience Academy - an accessible online platform for self-directed programs of resilience and self development. Accessibility, particularly for those working in the public sector and under pressure, is important to me and many useful resources are shared at no charge. My work is grounded in root causes practice, evidence and science backed research, and years of exp

erience working in high pressure environments. A former police staff leader, in 2024 I was given a Police Impact Award for Supportive Leadership & Wellbeing by Gloucestershire Constabulary. I am also a retired diplomat, having served 14 years in the UK Foreign Service and I have authored two books relating to my time spent abroad: A Better Basra - about my time in Iraq; and Looking for Tigers - a collection of stories and reflections from some of the many countries I have lived and served in. ❤️ Awww. I've just had a beautiful message from Judy, the Founder of Trauma Foundation South West (she gave me permission to share).

📘 "I have just finished reading A Better Basra. I found it thoroughly human and heartwarming, even though you were in such a hard/male/violent situation. Your wry, humorous, unsentimental and honest look at life made it such a good read! It has made me think about when I have been brave and when cowardly in my own life and realise that I can be compassionate to myself in both states"

It’s funny how the smallest things can carry the biggest meaning.

I’ve just arrived back from Canada, unpacked my suitcase… and there it was. A police badge I was gifted on my last trip four years ago. Somehow, it made the journey home with me again - quietly waiting to be rediscovered.

And it got me thinking…

We all carry things with us.
Moments. Messages. Strength we didn’t even realise we held onto.

Sometimes we just need a gentle reminder that it’s still there.

That’s exactly why I created The Book of Days - a daily space for grounding, reflection, and quiet encouragement. Not overwhelming. Just something steady to return to, especially on the days you need it most.

If you’d like a little daily support waiting for you too, you can subscribe here: https://buy.stripe.com/5kQaEXdjmdPed3Yc7H4Ni04

Because sometimes the right message finds you… exactly when you’re ready to see it again.
