☀️ Staying Safe in Hot Weather – A Simple Guide
Keep Hydrated 💧
• Encourage regular drinks throughout the day
• Offer water, squash, milk, or cold drinks regularly
• Avoid too much alcohol or caffeine
Keep Cool 🌬️
• Close curtains/blinds during the hottest parts of the day
• Use fans where appropriate
• Wear loose, lightweight clothing
Avoid the Heat 🏠
• Stay indoors between 11am–3pm when possible
• Sit in the coolest room available
• Avoid strenuous activity
Eat Light 🍓
• Offer smaller meals more often
• Include fruit, salads, yoghurts, and cold foods
• Ice lollies can help increase fluids
Watch for Signs of Heat Exhaustion ⚠️
Look out for:
• Dizziness or confusion
• Headaches
• Increased tiredness
• Excessive sweating
• Feeling sick
• Dark urine
