“You own a private ultrasound clinic, so why do you still work in the HSE?”

It’s a question I get asked a lot — and the answer is simple: because clinical excellence matters.

Working as a HSE Clinical Midwife Specialist keeps my knowledge and clinical skills current. It gives me exposure to a wide range of patients, complex clinical presentations and evolving evidence, guidelines and best practice. That experience is invaluable and helps ensure I continue to develop and evolve my skillset.

It also gives me a strong understanding of referral pathways, multidisciplinary care and the services available to women and families — knowledge that supports the care I provide through New Beginnings Ultrasound Clinic.

Perhaps most importantly, working within the HSE means being part of a network of highly experienced midwives, doctors, sonographers and other specialists. Having that professional environment allows for discussion, collaboration, advice and second opinions when needed.

This keeps me clinically grounded. New Beginnings allows me to give families the time, reassurance and personalised experience they deserve.

For me, these two roles complement each other — helping me provide care that is evidence-based, clinically informed and, above all, safety-first.

Because new beginnings deserve the very best care.
