Just a reminder for our members that next Saturday the 24th October we have our AGM and disco 🪩 ❤️

AGM starts at 4pm at leading lives hub, and then the disco will start at 5:30pm aiming at food for 6pm.

🎃👻💀 Halloween dress up for anyone that wants to 😍❤️💀👻🎃

📣🚨Also if you haven't confirmed that you are coming and you would like to please let us know so we know how much food to get.

We will be having sausage and chips 😍 same as last year ❤️ as it went down so well 🤤

I know some people have been a bit pesimistic about signing it but I feel it's very important to at the very least show how many people this permanent closure affects and how much vital and important it is to everyone of all ages and backgrounds ❤️

I've got some good news!

Starting from sunday the 11th October avocet have kindly been allowed to use the Hadliegh pool! ❤️
And we have been able to keep our normal time 😍❤️ 4pm to 5pm.

We understand that this may not suit everyone but it's the best we can do ❤️

🚨📢 Also for this to work we need to be out off the premises by 5:30!

Hi all. The Avocet Committee had a meeting today which was sad but positive. There is no more news on the pool but Steve is in contact with both The Kingfisher and Babergh. He has been told there will be more news in 3-4 weeks so until then we are unable to say any facts about the pool.
Our main focus is our members and the club going forward. It is abit like covid and the recent pool closure so our main aim is to keep the club going for our members. Steve and Alan will find out about other swimming options/venues but this may take time.
We are also looking at other group activities we can arrange.
Please all come to the AGM and disco on Saturday 24th October🎊🎉. AGM meeting 4pm, disco and food after 5.30-9💃🏻🕺🏻. Held at The Hub, Sudbury.
It will be lovely to see everyone and have some fun.
Steve has sent out this year's Membership letters so please can you fill them out as they have important information we have to hold and send it to Steve. We would appreciate it if you could still pay your membership as we use the funds for the other activities and insurance.
Please reply to this message so I know everyone has read it and also let me know if you and others are coming to the AGM so we know numbers for the food. Its a sad time but we are a great club so lets have some fun.

Also you are more than welcome to dress up for Halloween at disco after the AGM ❤️

Sorry it's taken me so long to post but I was just devastated by the news and the fear of how on earth we will be able to keep our lovely group going after recently celebrating our 40th anniversary 😭

But just flicking through the photos has brought me so much happiness of what we have done for our members and the community ❤️
Raising money for other great causes!
Giving parents and their family's a safe place to swim. Free for our members to stim, be happy and be themselves. If they are having a bad day most people have lived it and are understanding.
I have always called it a safe haven.

One of our younger members when he first started coming didn't want to get into the pool but now after love and support and patience he loves it ❤️ it's been amazing watching him grow and be so happy ❤️

We have started getting more younger members and we have some lovely members who include them when throwing around a ball ❤️

I've been taking my client for 8 years and this year he has only just got himself into his routine and finally has some independence. Honestly feels like he doesn't need me anymore 🤣 I feel sad he's lost that.

My little 8 year only client, the kingfisher was one of his few safe places. His mum was only telling me the other day how happy he looked swimming with his school when she was in the gym 💔

Honestly my heart breaks for everyone all the school children who used the pool, the people who the gym wasn't an option but swimming was less stressful on their bodies.
The live saving group that is also vital since that horrible tragedy in sudbury many moons ago.

What do we have left in sudbury now?

Please save Sudbury's pool we need it for the health and safety and soo many that benefited from it.

I hope and pray that we can find a way to carry on our amazing group and our help and love for the community ❤️

Back on the 26th we celebrated our 40th anniversary of the group 😍❤️

All members old and new and members that used to come were invited to celebrate 🥂

A big thank you to The Maldon Grey for giving us another safe space for our members to come together.
Having a fenced off area for some of our members that can't keep still and are a flight risk is essential for them to be able to come and enjoy the night. But also so their parents or caregivers aren't constantly on edge to and can also enjoy the evening ❤️
So that means the world to us 😍🥰 Thank you ❤️

The music was a hit and for my client who doesn't want to engage with others too much but then gets bored it was a hit! Lots of happy head bobbing ❤️

Such an amazing busy evening!

And of course thank you to Alan, Steve, Bridget, Lyn, Liz and family who worked so hard either cooking, serving or in the tombola 😍❤️
The evening couldn't go ahead without you all ❤️

And of course Ambers cakes which are super scrumptious 😍❤️
And she even makes a gluten and dairy free cake for us too 😁

It's lovely to be a part of the community and help each other ❤️

On good Friday we had an amazing time ❤️

We did our annual sponsored walk this year for sporting memories for people with dementia ❤️

We had some non members join us too which was lovey 😍❤️ the more the merrier.

We had l such a laugh and then a lovely picnic before the walk back to the start.

We walked 5miles!!

A big well done to everyone❤️
But a special big well done for Niamh who struggles with walking but managed to do it at her pace ❤️👊 go Niamh!

Thank you everyone and the carers who were in good spirits keeping everyone in a good mood with some music and laughter ❤️

Good morning everyone 😍

Just a reminder that a week in Friday (good Friday) we are doing our sponsored walk 😍

Meeting outside the kingfisher leisure center.

Starting at 1030 so please get there 5 or so mins before.

Please bring your pack lunch's as we stop off and melford country park for lunch and a rest and then walk back.

Non members are welcome, friends family etc we look forward to seeing you all ❤️
