Third lobes look simple, but the placement really matters. You want them to sit nicely with what you’ve already got, leave enough room for future jewellery, and actually suit your ear rather than just being shoved into whatever space is left. Our reel takes through the whole thing, from coming into the studio, getting marked up, checking the placement, being pierced, then seeing the finished pair in the mirror.

Did you know the answer straight away or did you start touching your ears and then start counting? Once you get past a certain number of piercings you stop keeping track. Someone asks and then your suddenly doing a full inventory... lobes, helix, conch, nostril, septum, lips and that one you always forget about.

I swear ear stacks are never actually finished. You just convince yourself they are until you spot another bit of space. This customer already had such a good collection going, then we added this little conch and it just filled that gap in the middle perfectly. Now the whole ear looks like it was waiting for it.

And this is exactly how it starts. You go in for “one last piercing” and six months later you’re looking at your ear in the mirror wondering where you can squeeze another one in.

How many times have you said “this is definitely my last one” and completely lied to yourself?
