Supporting women whose babies are presenting breech is a really rewarding part of my practice. Moxibustion is a traditional technique that may help encourage babies to turn naturally, and when appropriate, I provide clear guidance so families can continue treatment confidently at home.

I’ve been a little quiet on social media over the summer, but behind the scenes it’s been business as usual in the clinic! ☀️🌿🐣

Now that September is here, I’m looking forward to being a bit more active online again and sharing more about how acupuncture can support fertility and reproductive health.

I’ve continued to work with wonderful women and couples throughout the summer, supporting them through all stages of their fertility journeys—from trying to conceive naturally to preparing for and going through IVF treatment.

This patient came to see me as her baby was in a breech position and she wanted to give moxibustion a go to try and turn him!

Moxibustion involves burning a dried herb called mugwort (moxa) near a specific acupuncture point on the little toe (BL67). The goal is to stimulate fetal movement and encourage the baby to turn head-down.

I always invite the partner into clinic too at the time of treatment as I demonstrate to them how to apply the moxa stick so that they can continue treatment at home for the following 5 days.

This weekend I found an old notebook I had used to journal during my 2nd IVF cycle 🥹

Every day I would write down 3 things -

✨What I was grateful for…
✨Why I believed this IVF cycle could work…
✨Small things I could do for myself that day…

I’m not really a journalling kind of person but during that time, allowing myself to write down why I was hopeful it would work, and thankful for everything good already in my life, really calmed my fears, anxiety and spiralling about the what if it didn’t?!

Reminding myself daily of all the steps I had I done to help the process and other reminders of how to be kind to myself that day helped me to find perspective and quell the fears during those agonising days of waiting.

Did journalling change the outcome? I don’t know but I recommend it to all my patients after embryo transfer as tool to do daily to help with the anxiety and as a place to feel gratitude when it feels all consuming and overwhelming.

If you’re in your own two-week wait right now, be gentle with yourself. One day at a time. 💛
