We’re delighted to be supporting the Neath Great Fair with their SEND session!
We’ve been chatting with the team about their upcoming SEND session on Sunday 13th September, and we’re really excited to be working alongside them to help make the experience as welcoming, comfortable and inclusive as possible for children, young people, adults and their families.
We think it’s fantastic that the fair is creating a dedicated quieter session for people who may find busy environments, loud noises and lots of stimulation challenging.
The team have already put so much thought into the session, including reducing noise and stimulation, and we’re looking forward to adding a little extra support on the day.
We’re visiting on Friday morning to have a look around the fair and create a short walkthrough video. The idea is to give families a chance to see the entrance, the fair environment, rides and key areas beforehand, helping children and young people who may feel anxious about unfamiliar places or not knowing what to expect.
As part of our Inclusive Spaces Initiative, we are also hoping to have a dedicated space close to the entrance on Sunday where families can find us, take a breather, access sensory resources or simply have a chat with our team if they need any support.
We’ll also be around the fair throughout the session, so families will have familiar faces they can approach if they need a little help or advice.
We’re really grateful to the Showmen’s Guild for being so open to listening, learning and working collaboratively. This is their first dedicated SEND session, and we absolutely love their approach of listening to families and building on the experience year after year.
If you’re planning on attending, come and say hello to our team - we'd love to meet you. 😊
