A huge thank you to staff EE for volunteering with us today. They worked tirelessly in Friends of the Young Disabled in the garden outdoor area and cleaned the sensory room, playroom, main hall and painted some outdoor railings . Thank you so much for helping!!

'Travelling with Confidence'

Project Manager, Philip Merchant, had an engaging Introductory Skill Build session with some of our Buddies.

The session involved the young people planning a fictional journey, looking at what is needed in order to plan a train trip. Discussions focused on:

🎟️ How to buy train tickets?
🚉 How to access the railway station?
🗣️ Who to speak to?
🤝 Booking Passenger Assist.
🗓️ Understanding timetables.
💷 How much do train tickets cost?
📽️ Activities and amenities at their desired destination.

To aide these discussions we looked at rail network maps, searched for destinations and watched the Travelling with Confidence Rail Safety presentation.

In the second session our young people put their learning into practice and had a wonderful time travelling from Swansea to Bury port and back. With of course some fish and chips whilst they were there!!

Travelling with Confidence is a Community Rail Network programme, grant-funded by the Motability Foundation.
