One week camping and two weeks in Morocco definitely helped me drop into slow summer mode ☀️

And somewhere between the sea, long days, family, friends, guests and a much slower pace, I was reminded of something I talk about often in my classes...

Rest might sound simple, but it isn’t always easy.

Our world isn’t really set up for it.
We’re constantly connected.
Always reachable.
Always something to check, respond to, scroll through or get done.

Even when we’re resting, our attention can still be somewhere else.

So I took a little break from my phone and social media, particularly during our week camping.

It felt challenging at first.
But it also felt really good.

Running a guesthouse and retreat centre in Morocco means I can’t completely switch off. I still need to check in a few times a day, even when I’m away.

But I noticed how different it felt when I checked in intentionally, rather than constantly.

Check what needed checking.
Respond where needed.
Put the phone away.
Return to whatever was happening right in front of me.

And then there was the other side of slowing down...
Being present can be hard too.

When we’re no longer filling every quiet moment, there can be space for thoughts, feelings and things we’ve been keeping beneath the surface to emerge.

Sometimes being present feels peaceful.
Sometimes it feels uncomfortable.
Sometimes it simply gives us the opportunity to notice what we’ve been too busy to feel.

This is why I don’t see rest as something we do once everything else is finished.
Rest is a practice.

Something we can learn to weave into our lives, in every season.
Not because we’ve done enough.
Not because we’ve earned it.
But because we are human, and we need space to pause, feel, process and simply be.

Perhaps this summer, the invitation isn’t to do less perfectly.
Maybe it’s simply to create a little more space to be where we already are 🩷

Summer often invites us to do more.

Longer days can quickly become fuller days, leaving little room to simply pause and enjoy the season.

But what if the gift of summer isn’t more time to fill...

What if it’s more space to savour?

To linger after a swim. To watch the sunset. To enjoy a slow morning. To be fully present in the moments that ask nothing of us.

If you’re craving a little more spaciousness this summer, I’d love to welcome you to one of my upcoming sessions at Swansea Wellbeing Centre The Swansea Wellbeing Centre

How often do you talk yourself out of the things that are good for you?

Not because you don't want them.

But because there always seems to be a reason why now isn't the right time.

Too much to do.

Too many people relying on you.

Too many other priorities.

And yet sometimes the things we keep putting off are the very things that help us feel more like ourselves again.

A little more rested.

A little more grounded.

A little more present.

A little more connected to what we need.

Not because we've escaped our responsibilities.

But because we've given ourselves the time and space to return to them in a more balanced way.

Without the pressure of becoming someone new.

Simply remembering who you are when you slow down enough to hear yourself again.

This is one of the reasons I created THRIVE.

A weekend in nature with yoga, wild swims, nourishing food, meaningful conversation, sauna, rest, and space to simply be.

A chance to step away from the noise of everyday life and say yes to yourself 🩷

Three weeks from now, we’ll be settling back into our everyday routines after a weekend in nature.

A spacious few days of heart-warming conversations, swimming in the river, sharing meals, and sitting together around the fire.

Nourishing ourselves with simple, grounding food, and slowing down into a different rhythm of life.

And I’ve been thinking about how we move from that kind of rest, back into responsibility again.

How quickly life can fill back up.

How easy it is to return to giving, doing, holding everything together.

Experiences like this retreat are a reminder of how important it is to take time just for ourselves.

Not as something extra or indulgent.

But as something that allows us to keep showing up through life in a more balanced way.

To soften the pattern of overgiving.

To remember that our needs matter too, learning that we also matter in the equation.

THRIVE is a 3-day retreat in nature created exactly for this.

A space to step away from the noise of everyday life and land back in your body.

To move slowly.
To spend time in nature.
To swim in cold water.
To share nourishing meals.
To have time and space to slow down.
To breathe.

And to feel what it’s like to come back to yourself again 🦋

✨Bookings close on Saturday 13th June✨

If something in you is feeling the pull toward this, I’d really encourage you to listen 🩷✨

❌ Not a packed schedule.

❌ Not somewhere you have to show up as anyone other than yourself.

🌟 But a slow unfolding of days in nature — wild swimming, yoga, sauna, nourishing food and time to breathe again.
