Open for a few hours today while I catch up on making stock.

It’s hard to believe I’ve only been in Tadcaster for a little over a month. Moving a business is always a leap of faith, but I’m so grateful for how warmly Born of Botanics has been welcomed here.

The shop has been busy, subscription boxes continue to grow, online orders have picked up again and the workshops are becoming one of my favourite parts of the week. Seeing people come together to create, chat and try something new has been a real joy.

Thank you to everyone who has popped in, placed an order, booked a workshop or simply stopped for a chat. You’re helping this little business write its next chapter, and I’m excited to see where it leads.

A small milestone this week… the signage is finally up.

For the past few weeks, many of you have managed to find me through word of mouth, directions from friends, or by peering through the window, or following your nose and hoping you were in the right place. From today, it should all be a little easier.

Born of Botanics now has its name above the door at 21 Kirkgate, and seeing it there makes everything feel a little more settled and a little more like home.

I’ll be open all weekend and I’m looking forward to getting out and visiting some of the wonderful venues taking part in the Tadcaster Creates Arts Festival too. It’s lovely to see the town buzzing with creativity and people exploring somewhere new.

If you’re heading into Tadcaster over the weekend, do pop in and say hello. Whether you’re calling in for a candle, a browse, a workshop chat, or simply a friendly face and a catch-up, the kettle is never far away.

And if you’ve struggled to find me before… hopefully the new sign will point you in the right direction

It’s Friday and not just any Friday .. today I am hopeful that the rain stays away and my signage finally gets to go up on the shop.
It’s low key compared to Stonegate but I’m not shouting quite so loud to be seen as I had to in york.

Im happily settling in to my new space and this week had my first international visitor all the way from Indiana. It really was the thing that I said I would miss most, talking to my customers from Italy, France , Bahrain , the USA .. wherever they came to me from and found them selves visiting on every trip.
So I was totally overwhelmed that this customer had hired a car and put me on her route of places to visit.
I have also had customers from around the UK come and find me which means to much.

Today im open from 10 and prepping for tomorrow’s slow studio candle making workshop. I also still have some space on next Wednesdays blend and unwind evening session if you fancy a break from the norm and immersing yourself in an evening of essential oils.

For those of you who subscribe to my monthly candle boxes, Tuscan Sun should already be filling your homes with the scent of summer.

I always like to give subscribers first access to new fragrances, so I’ve waited until the boxes had landed before sharing this one more widely.

Inspired by the simple pleasures of an Italian summer, Tuscan Sun combines fresh lemon and aromatic basil to create a fragrance that feels like sunshine through an open window. Think terracotta pots overflowing with herbs, warm afternoons spent outdoors and that wonderful feeling of slowing down for a while.

I’m delighted to say that Tuscan Sun is now available online and in the studio too, ready for anyone who’d like to bring a little Mediterranean sunshine into their home , whilst our Yorkshire sun takes a small rest ⛅️

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest.

I took today away from the shop after today’s hospital appointment and gave my knee a chance to recover, but I’ll be back open tomorrow from 10am.

A little while ago I asked whether I should bring back Scent 21 , a fragrance I first launched on the Summer Solstice in 2021 & whether it might be time to give it a new name.

As it turns out, thanks to one of you clever lot, the answer may have been right in front of me all along.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be revisiting the fragrance, carrying out a little testing and searching for a vessel that feels worthy of it, because this really is one of those scents that deserves something special.

It opens with cardamom, bright bergamot and a whisper of sea salt before revealing a beautiful floral heart of jasmine, ylang ylang, gardenia and rose. Beneath it all sits a rich, lingering base of musk, vanilla, benzoin and weathered driftwood that gives the fragrance its warmth, depth and unmistakable character.

It’s sensual, sophisticated and a little nostalgic for me too.
