Music, fundraising, and a wonderful afternoon at Hartfields Extra Care Service 🎶

Recently, the people we support at Hartfields Extra Care Service enjoyed an afternoon of live entertainment as a ukulele band visited the service for an afternoon filled with music, pie and peas, and a raffle 🥧🎵

The ukelele band regularly raises money for Alice House Hospice through its performances, and the people we support were keen to support such an important cause. Together, the Radis team and residents raised an incredible £200, which was donated to the hospice's fundraising team!

Alice House Hospice provides vital support to patients and their families, and the donation will help the charity continue its invaluable work within the local community 💙

A fantastic afternoon enjoyed by all, while raising money for a brilliant cause!

Last week we attended the Big Health Day, an annual event bringing together local organisations, services, and communities to promote health, wellbeing, and inclusion in the local area.

Our team in Gloucester spent the day speaking to the local community about Radis, and the range of care and support services we offer across Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas. The event provided an opportunity to answer questions, offer guidance, and help people learn more about the support available for them to access.

At Radis, we understand the importance of helping people to live independently while accessing the support they need. Taking part in events like this allows us to engage with local communities, share information, and support people in making informed choices about their care and wellbeing 💙

A meal with Mencap 🥗🍴 Every Saturday, we support individuals in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas to attend a club with Mencap, a leading UK charity that supports people with learning disabilities to live independent lives.

This Learning Disability Week, we're celebrating this year's theme, "Do You See Me?" 💜 The awareness week highlights the importance of recognising, valuing, and including people with learning disabilities in all aspects of community life.

Through activities, social events, and opportunities to spend time together, the club helps people build friendships, enjoy new experiences, and stay connected with others 🥰

We're proud to support people to access the activities that matter to them and to live fulfilling, independent lives within their communities.💙

☘️ The people we support at Honey Tree Court Extra Care Service came together for a special Irish Celebration Day, enjoying a delicious Irish-themed menu including smoked salmon terrine, Irish lamb stew, and a whisky cream chocolate mousse 🍫🥗

The afternoon featured live entertainment from a singer and a performance from local Irish dancers 💃

The celebration was made possible through residents' contributions, alongside the hard work and preparation from the Radis team that went into bringing the celebration to life. It was a fantastic event that was enjoyed by everyone involved!

As part of Dementia Action Week, we joined members of the Cheltenham Dementia Action Alliance to help raise awareness of dementia and the support available to those affected 💙

Throughout the day, the public were able to access information and advice, share their experiences of dementia, and learn more about the local services available to support them and their loved ones. These important conversations helped raise awareness, offer reassurance, and connect people with organisations that could help.

A Museum of Memories display featured nostalgic items from the 1980s,90s, 2000s and 2010s, to encourage conversations about memory, spark reminiscence, and highlight the importance of supporting those living with dementia 🧠💭

Getta, one of our team members with specialist knowledge and training on dementia, shared that it was a privilege to listen to people's stories and experiences, helping to increase understanding of dementia and the challenges many individuals and families face.

At Radis, we understand the importance of helping people to live independently while accessing the support they need. Events such as these provide an opportunity to connect with local communities, offer guidance, and ensure people know where to turn for help when they need it most.

Love was in the air at The Old Maltings extra care service last week as residents Prudence and Michael celebrated a very special milestone, marrying after 25 years together 💒💙

Prudence and Michael exchanged vows at King's Lynn Registry Office before returning to The Old Maltings to celebrate with their friends, family members, and the Radis team. Upon their return, they were greeted with confetti, the lounge was beautifully decorated and a reception was held, complete with a wedding buffet and cake for everyone to enjoy 🎂🥂

Prudence and Michael shared, "We have been together for 25 years and it felt right to marry and carry on our life together. Having our family with us for the ceremony and then celebrating with our friends at The Old Maltings made the day really special."

Congratulations to Prudence and Michael, we wish them many happy years ahead ❤️

Recently, the people we support at Hartfields Extra Care Service enjoyed a special visit from students at Catcote Futures, an SEND college supporting young adults with special educational needs and disabilities🥰

The students showcased a selection of songs and dances they had been practicing using sign language, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed 🎶

Following the fabulous performance, the people we support made the most of the warm weather, ending the day by enjoying games and ice cream outside in the sunshine🍦🌈

Recently, the people we support at Hartfields Extra Care Service spent time crafting beautiful blue forget-me-not flowers and decorating a special teddy bear to mark Dementia Action Week. The forget-me-not flowers will be displayed in the Hartfields atrium to help raise awareness in the service.🧶🐻

This year’s Dementia Action Week focuses on the Alzheimer's Society Forget Me Not Appeal. Activities like these are a way for the people we support to spend time together and share important conversations.💙
