Recently, the people we support at Hartfields Extra Care Service enjoyed a special visit from students at Catcote Futures, an SEND college supporting young adults with special educational needs and disabilities🥰

The students showcased a selection of songs and dances they had been practicing using sign language, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed 🎶

Following the fabulous performance, the people we support made the most of the warm weather, ending the day by enjoying games and ice cream outside in the sunshine🍦🌈

Recently, the people we support at Hartfields Extra Care Service spent time crafting beautiful blue forget-me-not flowers and decorating a special teddy bear to mark Dementia Action Week. The forget-me-not flowers will be displayed in the Hartfields atrium to help raise awareness in the service.🧶🐻

This year’s Dementia Action Week focuses on the Alzheimer's Society Forget Me Not Appeal. Activities like these are a way for the people we support to spend time together and share important conversations.💙

Behind the scenes with Community Lead Nurse, Dani 👀 To celebrate International Nurses Day this week, take a look at what she gets up to in her role at Radis Community Care.

From supporting people with complex health needs, to training care teams and coordinating nurse-led care at home, Dani's role highlights the compassion, leadership and dedication community nursing brings to the people we support every day.

At Radis, our nurses work closely with the people we support, their families and wider healthcare professionals to help them live safely and independently in their own homes.

Meet Sammi, one of our amazing Community Lead Nurses here at Radis Community Care☀️

Sammi originally planned to become a midwife, but after being offered a place in adult nursing instead, she quickly discovered where her true passion was. After working in A&E, she moved into community care and found just how rewarding it is to support people in their own homes, where even the smallest actions can make the biggest difference.

As a Community Lead Nurse, no two days are the same. From completing clinical assessments and creating personalised care plans, to supporting staff training and working closely with multidisciplinary teams, Sammi helps make sure the people we support receive safe, high-quality care that truly meets their needs.

What Sammi loves most is seeing the positive difference that care can make, whether that’s helping someone improve their quality of life, supporting recovery, or simply bringing comfort and reassurance during difficult times ♥️

Community nursing is often much more complex than people realise. Sammi describes it as: “Not just basic care, it involves high-level clinical decision-making, risk management, and coordination across multiple services.” Behind the scenes, community nurses are constantly planning, problem-solving, safeguarding, and making important decisions to keep people safe and well, all while helping them stay comfortable in the place they know best, their home.

For Sammi, being a nurse means combining clinical knowledge with compassion, showing patience, communicating well, staying calm under pressure, and always treating people with dignity and respect.

Meet Dani, one of our dedicated Community Lead Nurses at Radis Community Care 💛

For Dani, nursing has always been about people. Although she first studied biomedical science, she soon realised life in the lab wasn’t for her. It was caring for her mum during her lung cancer diagnosis that truly showed her where she was meant to be, supporting people through some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives. That experience shaped the nurse she is today, someone who believes everyone deserves to feel safe, cared for, and never alone.

As a Community Lead Nurse, Dani’s focus revolves around advocating for the people we support and making sure they receive the care they deserve. She works across every stage of a person’s journey, from hospital discharge to ongoing support at home and end-of-life care, ensuring every detail is centred around the individual.

Dani's role includes clinical assessments, creating bespoke care plans, managing risks, and working closely with wider healthcare teams, but one of her favourite parts of the job is helping others grow. “I love training care staff and supporting them with new knowledge and skills, because good training equals good care for our patients.”

Dani is incredibly proud of the care teams she works alongside and the passion they all share for delivering outstanding care. For her, community nursing is about much more than clinical support, it’s about trust, kindness, and making people feel genuinely looked after. She believes great nursing starts with compassion, treating every person with the same care and respect you would want for your own family, and having the passion to speak up for those who need it most. ♥️

When asked what the most rewarding part of the job is, Dani said “The people we support, that’s it. Making them feel safe and happy. Even at the end of life, just being there so they know they are not alone.”

This week, we're shining the spotlight on our wonderful Clinical Services Team and our Nurse-led Care Service, and today, we’re proud to share Darren’s story💙

Darren was just 56 when he had a stroke that changed his life overnight. Once independent and sociable, he suddenly faced complex clinical needs and a very different way of living.

With the support of our amazing Clinical Services Team, Darren’s care is built around early recognition of deterioration, clinical oversight, clear escalation pathways and a coordinated multidisciplinary approach, ensuring he is supported safely, proactively and with confidence every day.

Today, Darren lives independently in extra care housing, enjoying his daily routine, spending time with friends, and continuing his passion for technology, all while receiving the right clinical support to help him thrive.

Behind the scenes, our nurses are always there, caring, monitoring, and stepping in early if anything changes, helping Darren live life to the fullest.

Darren’s journey is a brilliant example of how nurse-led care can support independence, improve wellbeing, and make a real difference every single day. ☀️

Sunshine, determination, and 13 miles in support of a truly important cause! ☀️🌈

This week, Radis Service Manager Kimberley Rouse, Team Leader Samantha Gibbins, and a close friend, took on the Trek26 13-mile walk around Stonehenge in support of the Alzheimer's Society🚶‍♀️

The group completed a series of training walks in preparation for the challenge to build their endurance, and on the day, they successfully completed the 13 miles in approximately 5 hours, an incredible achievement for them all!

Service Manager Charlotte Hunter and the Radis teams at School Gardens and Parsons Gardens organised a fantastic bake sale and raffle, and along with additional donations, an amazing £1,200 has so far been raised for Alzheimer’s Society. 💜

An amazing team effort and brilliant achievement all round!

At Radis, we support many people who share their homes and lives with their much-loved pets 🐶☀️

From John living at Stirchley House Extra Care Service with his Dachshund Gabby, to Molly at our Walsall Supported Living Service in Walsall with her Parrot Rio 🐦. Across our services, there’s such a wonderful variety of pets and animals, each bringing something unique to the people we support!

Barrie, Pete, and Dawn at Stirchley House shared just how much their birds mean to them. Barrie told us his birds give him a real sense of purpose, helping him to get up and start his day each morning. Pete and Dawn shared how much they love hearing them tweet and sing, they said that their company brings them real comfort throughout the day. And John described Gabby as his absolute best friend, saying he couldn’t imagine life without her by his side ♥️

If you have a special pet in your life, we’d love to see them! Share your photos in the comments and tell us how they brighten your day 🐾
