The rain has returned to Somerset, but while the sun was out Reflect were out and about. The sunny weather makes exploration and community engagement easier, but it’s the generosity of spirit from those we meet (human and non human) that adds the warmth. Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone.

The definition of “awesome” might well be to gather the teams from across the county and place before them the amazing insights and eloquence of both Pete (Starfish) Blaker AND Joanna Grace. It was a great and memorable day.

If you survey most family carers they’ll probably say the transition from children’s to adult services is a confusing minefield. So it was great to host a group of visitors from Yeovil College at our Hornblotton base today, giving the students a chance to explore future options in person. Thank you for coming guys, we all had a blast.

People of a certain age will remember the buzz you felt when the Clash or the Pogues were in town. That buzz isn’t there any more…except when these guys come around. The phenomenal Frozen Light have woven their magic once more, and barely a dry eye in the house. Thank you for another amazing experience, from all at Reflect.

Today was all about being present and being active: a busy, busy day out and about for Reflect. Bridgwater Fair for some and a sponsored walk (in aid of St Margaret’s Hospice) along the full length of Burnham on Sea esplanade for others. Lots of money raised, a mountain of sensory experiences had, and a very dear friend remembered. We’ll be sleeping well tonight.

Just for those of you whose family members attend our base at Hestercombe Gardens, you may have seen the breaking news that Hestercombe Gardens Trust has gone into administration. We’ll be producing a bulletin with more detail tomorrow but just wanted to reassure you that there is no immediate or medium term risk to Reflect and we’ll be working closely with Hestercombe over the coming months.
