September is World Alzheimer’s Month 🗓️

To raise awareness, we interviewed one our our local Somerset customers, Colin.

Colin’s wife, Pauline, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease 4 years ago. This video is part one of our conversation, detailing their relationship, the signs of Alzheimer’s and the eventual diagnosis.

It’s a difficult and emotional topic to discuss - so a huge thank you to Colin for giving his insight on this disease that affects around 1 million people in the UK.

One of the benefits of choosing a regulated care provided like Bluebird Care, is that we always have staff available to take your calls and answer your queries.

September is World Alzheimer's Month and this year’s theme is: The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.

Dementia, including Alzheimer’s, is not a normal part of aging, but studies indicate that people living with dementia and their families who are well prepared and supported generally have a better sense of reassurance and empowerment when it comes to diagnosis.

Therefore, understanding dementia is important for everyone so that we can all help those who are affected by the disease in its various forms.

Customer Stories: Marian - 89 Years Old

We wanted to take a moment to celebrate our incredible customers and their fascinating stories. 

Marian has lived and travelled the world, spending 5 years in Nigeria and visiting places like Nepal and India. She and her husband shared a fondness for sheep, with countless beautiful paintings of flocks throughout their home - they reared sheep and grew corn on his family farm in Somerset for decades. 

She received an OBE from the queen in the 1990s for her outstanding work with the Red Cross - though Marian was too humble to spend too much time talking to us about her work.
