📢 Important Dispensary Notice 📢

Due to staff shortages, the dispensary will close early at 4:30pm on Thursday 28th May and will also be closed on Saturday 30th May.

Please ensure you collect any prescriptions or medication you may need in advance where possible.

We will be open as normal on Friday and normal service will resume next week.

If you require urgent medication advice whilst we are closed, please contact NHS 111.

The UK has seen the sun and collectively forgotten how to behave again… so here’s your friendly reminder from Abbey Surgery to stay safe in the warmer weather 🌡️😅

💧 Drink plenty of water
🧴 Slap on the sunscreen
👒 Hats are fashionable now — sorry, we don’t make the rules
🐶 Please don’t walk dogs on hot pavements
🌳 Shade is your friend between 11am–3pm
👵 And do check in on elderly neighbours, relatives, and anyone vulnerable nearby

If your car steering wheel feels like it’s been forged in Mordor, it’s probably too hot to be sat in the direct sun ☀️🔥

Most importantly — enjoy the sunshine, the gardens, the allotments, the washing drying in record time… and maybe even a BBQ that isn’t interrupted by rain for once! 🌼🍔

If you do feel unwell, please contact your local pharmacy, NHS 111, or the surgery if needed. In an emergency, always call 999.

🚗 Abandoned Vehicle Notice 🚗
We currently have an abandoned vehicle in the Bere Alston Abbey Surgery car park which has been there for some time. Unfortunately, it’s now starting to impact deliveries and patient parking.
The vehicle is a silver Peugeot.
If this is your car, or if you have any information about the owner, we’d really appreciate you getting in touch with the surgery as soon as possible or arranging for it to be removed.

Please note that Bere Alston Surgery will be closing today at 5:00pm.
If you need medical assistance after this time, help is still available:
❗️For urgent medical advice, please contact NHS 111 (online or by phone)
❗️ In a medical emergency, always call 999
❗️ You can also attend Tavistock Minor Injuries Unit for urgent but non-life-threatening issues
❗️Dartmoor urgent treatment centre is also available. 8:00am -8:00pm.

To help reduce medication waste and ensure we can safely make any changes to your treatment when needed, we’ll be moving all patients onto 28-day prescriptions, in line with NHS guidance.
We understand this is a change for some of you, and we really appreciate your support in helping us make sure medicines are used safely and effectively.
If you usually pay for your prescriptions, a prepayment certificate may help save you money 💷
