The recent Supreme Court ruling on deprivation of liberty has raised serious concerns that important safeguards will be weakened.

We understand that people will be worried about what this means for people's rights and what these changes could mean.

My Vote My Voice has been working to raise awareness of the voting rights of disabled people and people with learning disabilities. And as part of this, our very own Lxx Garcia will be speaking at Beyond the Ballot: Building a Disabled People’s Charter, on 9th June.

The event will explore the question: 'What would society look like if disabled people were genuinely heard, valued, and included in decisions that affect our lives?'.

The deadline to submit evidence to the Timms Review is fast approaching, with submissions closing tomorrow (28 May 2026) at 11.59pm.

The review aims to create a fairer, more accurate Personal Independence Payment (PIP) process that disabled people can trust, while improving the application and assessment experience.

At United Response, we welcome the review’s commitment to hearing from disabled people, carers, organisations and a wide range of professionals to help shape a system that better reflects people’s lived experiences.

Last week, the Work and Pensions Committee published a new report on employment support for disabled people, highlighting the importance of creating more inclusive workplaces and tackling the disability employment gap (DEG).

The report includes recommendations for employers around reasonable adjustments and improving support for disabled workers.
