A **floating navel piercing** is a variation of a traditional belly button piercing designed for people whose anatomy doesn’t suit the standard style.
What makes it “floating”?
Instead of showing both the top and the bottom balls like a classic navel piercing, a floating navel piercing:
👉🏻Has a visible top gem or ball
👉🏻Uses a flat disc or very small ball on the bottom, which tends to be hidden inside the navel
This creates the illusion that the jewelry is “floating” above the belly button.
Why people choose it? It works well if your navel collapses when you sit, (sad smile) ☹️ or doesn’t have a defined upper lip. But he advantage of a floating navel piercing is that it reduces pressure and irritation compared to traditional curved barbells.
A floating navel piercing gives a cleaner, more minimal aesthetic.
Jewellery typically used
💎 Traditional curved barbell
💎 The Top: decorative gem or ball
💎 The Bottom: flat backing (labret-style base)
Healing & care ❤️🩹
Healing is similar to a standard navel piercing:
* Around 6–12 months
* Clean with saline solution
* Ensuring inside the navel is completely dry after bathing
* Avoid tight clothing and excessive movement/friction
‼️Important note‼️
Not everyone is suited for a traditional navel piercing, and trying to force one can lead to rejection or migration.
Also, please don’t be upset / disheartened if I advise that you don’t have the correct anatomy for a traditional style navel piercing ❤️❤️
