This client was feeling self-conscious about thinning and recession around her right temple, which had created an uneven hairline and made her scalp more visible.

These images show the results after her first scalp micropigmentation session.

Using thousands of tiny pigment impressions, Gem carefully creates the appearance of greater density and reduces the contrast between the hair and scalp. The treatment is built gradually over a series of sessions to achieve the most natural result possible, particularly around the hairline and frontal scalp.

Did you know your natural lip colour isn’t just determined by blood vessels?

The colour of your lips is influenced by a combination of:

• blood vessels beneath the skin
• the thickness of the lip tissue
• circulation
• your natural melanin levels

Melanin is the pigment that gives colour to our skin, hair and eyes. It also affects the colour of our lips, which is why some people naturally have pale pink lips, while others have deeper pink, brown, purple or mauve tones.

This is one of the reasons lip blush is never a one-size-fits-all treatment.

One of the things I really value in business is knowing when to recommend someone else and trusting them to take great care of your clients.

We often work alongside Pure Skin in Brinkworth because our treatments complement each other so well.

If a client comes to us needing laser removal before correctional permanent makeup, Nicola and her team are who we recommend.

And in return, they often send clients to us when they’re ready for beautiful new brows after removal, or for those light, stubborn hairs that laser can’t catch, so we can finish the job with electrolysis.

That’s what good collaboration looks like. Different expertise, shared standards, and doing what’s best for the client.

Fun fact… Nicola and I actually knew each other from school, then bumped into each other again at a business networking event in 2022. Funny how life brings people back around.

It’s the first day of June, and I’ve been looking back on some of the reasons women have shared with me during May, as to why they chose to start their permanent makeup journey.

One lady’s brows never grew back after chemotherapy.

Another told me her lip colour had faded so much with age that she didn’t like how she looked in photographs.

One client’s daughter is getting married this year and she wanted a little confidence boost before the big day.

One lady has added permanent makeup to her “60 Things To Do At 60” list.

An 82-year-old client told me she simply couldn’t see well enough to apply her makeup anymore.

A busy mum wanted an extra ten minutes in the morning.

A personal trainer wanted makeup that stayed put through every workout.

One woman was navigating a difficult divorce and wanted to feel like herself again.

After more than a decade in this profession, I’ve learnt that permanent makeup is rarely about makeup alone.

It’s about confidence.
It’s about convenience.
It’s about recovery.
It’s about celebrating milestones.

⚠️ Warning: Satisfyingly squishy cyst content ahead! ⚠️

This reel shows the removal of a benign scalp cyst, also known as a pilar cyst.

After confirming the lesion is suitable for treatment, I use advanced electrolysis to create a small opening, carefully extract the contents, and then remove as much of the cyst wall (sac) as possible to help reduce the chance of it refilling.

Scalp cysts are common and often grow very slowly over many years. Whilst they are usually harmless, they can become uncomfortable, catch when brushing your hair, or simply become a nuisance.

Every cyst is different, and no treatment can guarantee that a cyst won’t return. A consultation is always required to determine whether treatment is appropriate.

If you have a lump, bump or skin lesion that’s bothering you, it’s important to have it properly assessed before considering cosmetic removal.
