For a long time I let a passing comment about how I run my clinic dictate how I felt about my professionalism. There was guilt, a little shame, A lot of restless emotions I didn't like addressing or looking directly at.
But I've come to realise that the very insecurity I was carrying is what makes this work possible, why I do what I do and why I'm able to help my clients the way that I do.
This isn't a practical post about hair loss or what to do about it. It's a post about connection and I think connection matters more in this work than people realise.
If the person advising you doesn't understand or see the world that you are living in, they may not give you the treatment you actually can manage- A treatment that is sustainable, effective and efficient FOR YOU!!
Sometimes compassion is required.
Sometimes acknowledgement of the struggle is what makes room for the plan to actually work.
I'm often in the same type of positions as my clients. Time Restraints. Energy struggles. A lot on my mind. Feelings of overwhelm. The same things my client's name when they walk in the door.
I'm not immune to any of it, i experience it in my own way but I experience it.
Every treatment plan I write is shaped around more than what is visible on the scalp. If a client walks in feeling overwhelmed, stretched or burnt out, .... I understand! It doesn't make me less professional, but actually makes my plan more potent- It means the plan I write for them will have the compassion, empathy, and realism to actually work FOR THEM!
Real results at the consistency that they can manage in a form that suits their real life.
This isn't a hair loss tip, It's a note about what happens between us when you sit in my chair, because sometimes I'm in the thick of it, in the thros of life just like you.
Lastly MASSIVE thank you and acknowledge to all the mums and dads taking turns on playdates and days out so that parents can keep up with all of life's demands especially during the holidays. It really does take a village, and I appreciate every one of mine this summer. ✨
Just my thoughts for today, drop me a ❤️ if you can relate.
