Dear Patients of St Mary’s Surgery,

From June, we are changing the way patients request appointments.

Because of recent NHS changes, we will be using a new digital triage system for all appointment requests. This will help us provide care more safely and efficiently.

How the new system works:

Instead of calling to book an appointment, you will first complete a short online form.

A doctor will review your request and decide the best type of appointment for you. This could be with a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or another healthcare professional.

Patients with urgent medical problems will be seen as quickly as possible.

Although this is different from our current system, it is a safe and effective way to make sure patients get the right care at the right time.

If you are not confident using technology:

Please do not worry. We will still help you if you cannot use a computer or smartphone.

You can:

• Phone the practice and a member of staff will complete the form for you • Visit reception and we will help you fill it in • Ask a family member, friend, or carer to complete it for you

No patient will be refused help because they cannot use technology.

Why we are making this change

• To reduce long waits on the phone • To make sure urgent problems are dealt with quickly • To give clinicians the information they need before appointments • To help us manage increasing demand fairly and safely

What will stay the same

• You can still see or speak to a doctor or nurse when needed • Your care will still be based on your medical needs • Our reception team and phone lines will still be available to help you

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our reception team. We are here to help.

Kind regards,

St Mary’s Surgery

Dear Patients of St Mary’s Surgery,

Following recent cases of Meningitis B, we wanted to provide some guidance and key information for our patients and families:

• The MenB vaccination programme was introduced in the UK in 2015 and is part of the routine infant immunisation schedule. This means children born before 2015 would not have received this vaccine routinely.

• Teenagers are offered the MenACWY vaccine, which protects against meningococcal groups A, C, W and Y. This vaccine does not provide protection against MenB.

• There is currently no NHS catch-up programme for the MenB vaccine. However, parents who wish for their child to receive it can access it privately through some larger pharmacies, travel clinics, or private providers such as Sulis Hospital.

Dear Patients,

A gentle reminder that once you have requested your prescription, please allow three working days for it to be processed.

This is particularly important during busy periods, such as just after the Christmas break.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Due to nearby road works, access to the surgery may be difficult and the signed diversion is unclear. Patients can still access the surgery via Somerset Folly Road.

Dear Patients,

Today at 11:00 a.m., all our staff will observe two minutes of silence in memory of those who served our country.

This includes our clinicians and reception team.

Thank you for your understanding.
