As we move into September and the leaves begin to change.

September is the perfect time to embrace stillness, reflect on your journey and set intentions for the months ahead.

🍁Stillness - embrace moments of stillness through meditation allowing your mind to settle.
🍁Energy - enjoy an EFT or Reiki session to restore and balance your energy levels and calm your mind.
🍁Practice Mindfulness - bring mindfulness into your daily activities, focusing on the present moment without judgement.
🍁Time Out - take regular breaks throughout the day to reset and recharge your mental and emotional state.
🍁Enjoy books - create a reading list to curl up and get cosy with.
🍁Mindful eating - savour each bit, paying attention to taste, texture and the nourishments your food provides.
🍁Balance - strive for balance in your life by integrating wok, relaxation and creative periods to maintain mental and emotional wellbeing.
🍁Empathy for Self - practice self-compassion and gentle acceptance, embrace your imperfections and treat yourself with kindness.
🍁Reflect - spend time reflecting on where you have been and envision where you want to go. This is your fresh start - embrace it.

What capacity really means

I talk a lot about nervous system regulation.

But regulation isn't really the end goal. Capacity is.

Capacity to have a difficult conversation without it consuming the rest of your day.
Capacity to hear “no” without immediately turning it into rejection.
Capacity to experience an emotion without needing to suppress it.
Capacity to set a boundary without spending hours feeling guilty afterwards.
Capacity to cope when plans change.
Capacity to rest without believing you should be doing something productive.
Capacity to trust yourself.

The aim isn't to create a life where nothing difficult ever happens. It is to become better equipped to navigate the life that does.

That is at the heart of my work with clients.

Are you putting yourself or your health last?

We are all guilty of doing this, be it pushing through another cold as “you don’t have time to be sick” or putting yourself last as everyone else’s needs come first or maybe you are living in a semi-dehydrated state. We will all have different reasons for this, but we all have certain patterns in common.

Our patterns of how we prioritise, allow time for and how we think about our own wellbeing are shaped by several things – how we were bought up, what we have experienced so far in life, our current health, the community around us etc. Our relationship with ourselves and our health is a bit like a teenager – it’s complicated!

We are constantly living in the fast lane with our pedal on the accelerator but like a car we are running out of fumes, or actually our stress hormone. We attempt to give 100% in every area of our life, no matter how busy our schedule is with unrealistic expectations. We are great multi-taskers and achieving in multiple areas can at times come in handy, but we often ignore the signs of exhaustion and burnout. We are living in a culture where we think resting is a sign of weakness.

If this feels like you then don’t wait until you burnout take action now. Take a step back, breath and start to make small changes, give yourself permission to have some “time out” and do something that gives you pleasure. If that feels too much start slowly even if it is just 10 minutes, stop, move away from what you feel you should be doing and place one hand on your heart and one on your belly and breathe in for the count of 4 and out for the count of 4 repeating this for 4 breathe at least, then when feeling calmer go back with a clearer mind. Gradually build up giving yourself more time from 20 mins, 30 mins, 60 mins to half a day to a whole day – it takes time to undo the forever pushing but it is so worth it for our health and wellbeing. It is so important to re-connect, recharge and replenish you.

If you need support in stepping out of your patterns of doing I would love to have a chat with you DM me or book a call links in bio.

You don’t have to do these changes alone.

The first time I gave myself 30 minutes to do nothing…

I didn’t find it relaxing. I felt guilty. I felt fidgety. My body might have been sitting still, but my brain certainly wasn’t.

I should be cleaning. I need to sort dinner. The children will need to be picked up soon. I could be getting something done.

Sound familiar?
When you are used to being the person who does, fixes, organises and remembers, simply stopping can feel surprisingly uncomfortable.

Sometimes I sat with a cup of tea. Sometimes I read. Sometimes I literally just sat.
No doing. Just BEing.

And slowly, I started to notice something. When I gave myself permission to pause, I had a little more of myself available afterwards. More patience. More energy. More headspace. A little more capacity.

At the time I probably wouldn’t have described it that way. I just knew I felt different.

Those 30 minutes became an hour. And that hour became part of how I began to find my way back to myself.

Maybe your version doesn’t need to start with an hour either. Maybe it begins with 10 minutes or 20. Or one quiet cup of tea where nobody needs anything from you.

Rest doesn’t have to be earned.

Today lets take a moment to acknowledge that there is no right or wrong way to grieve the journey is unique for all of us. It can be painful, isolating, exhausting, disorientating but it can also be transformative. Be kind to yourself and reach out for support when you need it.

Here are some ways to support someone who is grieving.

Listen - simply being there to listen allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings and memories is the best thing to do. There is no right thing to say as we cannot change the situation just take time to listen.

Offer practical help - grief can make everything seem overwhelming. Offer to prepare meals, run errands or help with household chores.

Be patient - it can feel like no one else understands so the person grieving can push people away. It may feel like all relationships are threatening and they are worried that someone else may pass, it takes time to come to terms with mortality.

Continue to offer support - check in periodically, even after the initial shock has subsided, let them know you are still there for them.

Remember important days - reach out on birthdays, anniversaries and other significant days and offer support as these dates can be very tough.

Remember everyone's grief journey is unique to them, your presence, compassion and willingness to be there for them can make a significant difference during such a difficult time.

If you or someone you know needs support then I am here to offer that and share some tools and techniques which have helped my client's move through their grief journey they don't need to do it alone.

I remember the back-to-school juggle.

I remember this time of year so well. The endless lists. School uniform. Shoes. PE kit. Bags. Stationery.

Although, being completely honest, I’ve always loved stationery, so while I was buying theirs, something usually found its way into the basket for me too!

Then came the logistics.
Who had which after-school club?
Who needed collecting when?
How was I going to fit that around work?

And I wasn’t only getting the children ready to go back.
At the time, I was working as a school secretary, so September meant getting myself ready to go back too.

Then there was everything else that didn’t disappear just because life was busy.
Shopping.
Cleaning.
Cooking.
Dog walks.
Appointments.
Caring for family.

And that constant mental list running in the background:
Don’t forget this.
You need to do that.
Who needs to be where?
What’s for dinner?
What have I forgotten?

Even my one day off wasn’t really a day off.
It became the day I shopped, cleaned and caught up on everything I hadn’t squeezed into the rest of the week.

And eventually, I realised I couldn’t keep going like that. I was exhausted. Tearful. Snappy. Tense. My body struggled to let go. My brain simply wouldn’t switch off.
And somewhere amongst being everything to everybody else I’d lost a little of myself too.

So if you’re in the middle of the back-to-school juggle right now, I want you to know , I remember. And I also know that things can begin to change.

Sometimes with something as small as 30 minutes just for yourself.

Happy Friday & Bank Holiday Weekend

Life isn’t about wishing you were somewhere, or someone that you are not. Life is about enjoying where you are, loving who you are, and consistently improving both.

So often we spend time wishing we were somewhere else or trying to be someone we are not, Take some time this weekend to enjoy and appreciate where you are right now. Celebrate your progress, love who you are right now and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory.

True self-care is embracing who you are at this moment while being committed to your growth.

Instead of comparing yourself to others or wishing for a different life, focus on the beauty of your journey.

Keep nurturing your mindset, and stay dedicated to becoming the best version of you.

If you’re ready to shift your mindset and need guidance on your journey, I’m here to help. Let’s work together to unlock your potential and build a life you truly love.
