Totnes Natural Health Centre

Totnes Natural Health Centre Registered UK charity (No 279033) supporting community wellbeing since 1978. Sessions are offered on a voluntary donation basis, suggested £20–£55.

Donations help sustain the centre and fund free treatment vouchers for partner charities. ❤️ The Totnes Natural Health Centre opened its doors in 1978, and was the first charity of its kind in the U.K. to offer Natural Health Treatments. Our registered charity number is 279033. The centre is unique in that we offer treatments on a donation basis. We ask for a donation of between £25-£55 for each s

ession. All of the therapists and receptionists who work at the centre give their time free each week to provide the local community a chance to experience complementary therapies at a reduced cost. All our therapists are fully qualified members of their appropriate professional bodies, and carry full indemnity insurance. You can arrange private appointments with each therapist by asking for their details at reception. We have 5 treatment rooms available and they can be hired at reasonable rates for private sessions, classes, meetings and workshops. The centre has a large reception, kitchen facilities and disabled access. Donation Session Conditions:
In the interest of fairness, each person is allowed a maximum of two donation sessions with each Therapist within a six month period. All sessions are subject to the full donation charge if cancelled for any reason within 48 hours: sessions for Monday need to be cancelled by midday on Friday to give us time to rebook. Please note that for Massage sessions in which Oils are used, there is an additional charge of £1 which goes to the Therapist to cover their oil costs. Similarly, a £1 charge is made for Art Therapy, Herbalism and Homeopathic sessions. For Counselling we allow customers to book a block of 6 sessions. We ask for a donation of between £60-£150 for 6 sessions. For Art Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Herbalism and Homeopathy we allow customers to book a block of 4 sessions. We ask for a donation of between £40-£140. Full payment must be made in advance. Other:
Anyone under the age of 16 must have a parent/guardian present during the treatment. To enquire about the Lucia Fern Croft Fund, please contact Anne Monnington at [email protected]

💚 Small Charity Week: Small Charity, Big Impact 💚

What does our small charity actually do?

Most people see a reception desk, a treatment room and a warm welcome.

What they don't see is the team of volunteers, trustees, therapists, and supporters working behind the scenes to keep everything running.

At Totnes Natural Health Centre, our receptionists volunteer their time, our trustees are unpaid, and our therapists donate hours every week to provide affordable donation sessions for the community.

For nearly 50 years, we've been helping people access natural health therapies, wellbeing support, workshops, and community connections. (And remember, every time someone donates £55 for their session, we donate a free session voucher to one of our partner charities in the town too, so that someone in real need can access a free treatment or therapy.)

One recent visitor described TNHC as:

"True to the spirit of Totnes. Unpretentious. Authentic. Real healing for real people."

We may be a small charity, but for nearly 50 years we've been making a big difference in our community.

💚 Thank you to everyone who helps make TNHC possible.

♋ Welcome to Cancer Season ♋

Today, Val Belcher, our resident astrologer, reminds us that the Wheel of the Year turns once again as we leave Gemini behind and welcome Cancer to centre stage.

Cancer is the first of the water signs and is associated with emotions, intuition, home, family, and nurturing. This season invites us to slow down, tune into our feelings, and spend time with the people, places, and activities that help us feel safe, supported, and restored.

Sometimes wellbeing isn't about doing more. Sometimes it's about creating space to rest, reflect, and recharge.

Val reminds us that Cancer is a very sensitive sign, yet one with a huge capacity for love, compassion, and caring for others. She also notes that people with the Moon in Cancer can often display Cancerian qualities even more strongly than those born under the Cancer Sun sign.

💚 What a day!

Here's a little look back at our Open Day earlier this month. From free taster sessions and inspiring talks to herbal walks, delicious refreshments, and plenty of friendly faces, it was wonderful to see the centre buzzing with activity.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited, volunteered, gave talks, offered treatments, and helped make the day such a success. 💚

Since 1978, TNHC has been providing accessible, affordable wellbeing support for our community, and days like this remind us just how special that community is.

Did you come along?

We'd love to hear your favourite moment in the comments. ✨

💚 What a Day!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Totnes Natural Health Centre Open Day yesterday.

We were delighted to welcome so many visitors through our doors to explore the centre, meet our therapists and volunteers, enjoy talks and demonstrations, and experience some of the therapies on offer.

Thanks to the generosity of our therapists, an incredible 60* free taster sessions were delivered throughout the day, while around 100 people attended talks and presentations.

One visitor summed up the spirit of TNHC beautifully:

"True to the spirit of Totnes. Vibing since 1978. Unpretentious. Authentic. Not part of the perfectionist wellbeing industry. Real community essence because it is accessible to everyone in terms of cost. Real healing for real people." – Rosa

As a charity, our mission is to make wellbeing accessible, welcoming, and affordable for everyone, and it was wonderful to see that reflected throughout the day.

A heartfelt thank you to our therapists, volunteers, reception team, trustees, speakers, and everyone who helped make the event such a success.

Please enjoy some of the highlights from the day. 💚

💚 How Do Donation-Based Appointments Work?

One of the things that makes TNHC unique is our donation-based model.

All our therapists generously donate three hours each week, helping to make complementary therapies more accessible to the community.

Clients can access up to two donation-based sessions with each therapist every six months, and are welcome to explore different therapies with different practitioners.

Your donation supports your own wellbeing, helps keep the centre running, and contributes to the wider work of the charity, including funding free treatment vouchers for partner charities in Totnes.

It's a model built on generosity, community, and a shared belief that wellbeing support should be accessible to everyone.
