We're excited to share that we have new supported internship opportunities in Retail for young people with learning disabilities.

Retail is a busy, varied and well-established sector, offering brilliant opportunities to learn in customer-facing environments. From helping on the shop floor to supporting stock, displays and customer service, this is a great way to build confidence and develop practical skills in a fast-moving workplace 🛍️🛒

With the support of a dedicated job coach, our supported interns will receive hands-on guidance every step of the way, learning at a pace that works for them. They'll gain valuable transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, time-keeping and problem-solving, which are all highly valued by employers.

Supported internships are a fantastic way to help young people gain skills for life and move towards meaningful employment. 🩵

We're pleased to share that Lifeworks is now an approved provider of The Duke of Edinburgh Awards!

This is an exciting opportunity for our young people to take part in meaningful activities that recognise their progress, strengths and achievements. Through the award, participants can develop new skills, take on personal challenges, get involved in their community and build confidence in a way that is shaped around their goals.

At Lifeworks, we believe that every young person should have opportunities to try new things, develop independence and celebrate what they can achieve. Becoming an approved D of E provider means we can support more young people to work towards recognised award sections through activities that matter to them.

We're looking forward to seeing our young people grow in confidence, discover new interests and celebrate their achievements along the way 🩷🩵

Recently, some of the students got creative by making their own advert for Lifeworks, which was then showcased at our 2026 Celebration!

Students started by creating a short script, thinking about words they associate with the college. From here, students used a digital recording device to record their voiceovers, each taking turns to say something.

Once all the recording was done, students got started on the hardest part - piecing it all together! Using a digital tool, students pinned the audio together and then got started with picking images to add to the advert too.

After lots of hard work, the students created this lovely advert talking about all of their favourite parts of Lifeworks College, and we're so proud of what they have created! 🥳

At our End of Year Celebration, Gemma from Signature Sound Therapies unfortunately could not join us, but she did share this lovely video with us, and we just had to share it!

Gemma's video perfectly depicts what sound therapy can do for our young people, and the work Gemma continues to do behind the scenes so that more people can benefit from sound therapy and all of its benefits.

Gemma's dedication and passion for her work with the young people at Lifeworks is felt by everyone here, and we're so incredibly grateful to have her support. Thank you, Gemma 🩵🩷

Hospitality Supported Internship Opportunities 🩵

We have some brand new supported internship opportunities in Hospitality open for young people with learning disabilities!

Hospitality is a dynamic and stable sector, buzzing with roles from welcoming guests to event support, and is perfect for building confidence in fast-paced environments where every day brings fresh challenges and rewards.

With a job coach by their side, our supported interns get tailored on-site support to thrive at their own rhythm. They'll master essential skills like customer interaction, multitasking under pressure, and creating memorable experiences, all while boosting self-assurance and gaining valuable workplace experience.

These opportunities will help to equip young people with transferable workplace skills that will help them work towards an enjoyable and fulfilling career!
