And just like that…. I’m back on the waiting list

In around January I will be having the magnetic nail took out of my leg. This has been a very long and overwhelming process from December last year.

The bone is healing nicely, but there is still the issue of not being able to fully straighten or fully flex my knee, hopefully this may help when I have the nail took out. My bones are too close in my knee joint at the moment which is what is causing the issues.

So there you go! This whole process will have took nearly 2 years by the time I’ve recovered from the next surgery. In the meantime I’ve got to keep up with my physio to try and build strength in my leg ready for when the next surgery takes place.

Tara for now ❤️

Last week I had a hospital trip to see what is going on, still having trouble with my knee and can’t fully straighten it or fully bend it.

It may have to be something I have to live with, I have also been told that I need to have the precise nail out in approximately 6 months time, the bone should have hardened fully by then.

I also checked my height the other day and Ive gone from 5ft 8 inches to 5ft 10.5 inches!! Even had to take a photo as it shocked me!

This is because of the length that has been gained in my left leg. My consultant has said that my left femur is a lot longer than my right one now but due to the angle of my hips I am a bit straighter.

Physio again this week so let’s see where I am with that 🙂

Today marks the beginning of hip dysplasia awareness month, this is something that has been difficult to deal with my whole life

It’s not just about sockets not forming properly it’s all about the ongoing things afterward

I had many many surgeries up until the age of 7, I then had a total hip resurfacing when I was 15. Since then I’ve also had revision surgery when I was 21.

But it hasn’t stopped there, having the multiple surgery’s when I was younger amounted to more ongoing problems throughout life, I have had to have procedures on my knee on my other leg and more recently I had to have limb lengthening procedure done with a precise nail this was due to my hip resurfacing having to be put in at a higher place than usual.

So when you have children that all Important hip click test can detect things earlier and it is more treatable when you are baby

So this is a bit into my story and what caused all of my issues in the first place ❤️

Did you know that June is also International Hip Dysplasia Awareness Month? 💜

🔄 The hip is a ball-and-socket joint, allowing movement in many directions
💪 The hips are designed to be both strong and flexible
👶 Babies are born with softer hip joints that continue developing after birth
🏃 Healthy hips are essential for balance, posture and movement
🔍 Early diagnosis of hip dysplasia can make treatment simpler and more effective

Let’s raise awareness and support families affected by hip dysplasia this June 🙌

My current X-ray is attached as I know everyone loves a look at those! And here I am in my chair, Unapologetically Me 😍 living my best life as always

Today’s Update!

I’ve had physio today and as my muscles have wasted because they weren’t used for over 4 months, they need to try and be ‘activated’ again.

This is done by an electronic stimulation device which is similar to a tens machine, however it is quite sharp when it’s being used!

You can see my leg twitching from the electric currents being put into it!

Bit of an update! Getting out and about a little more now, weight bearing is going ok, it’s very very sore still!

Cannot walk without my crutches, my movement is very limited in my knee and still unable to drive which has been the longest time. I’m so used to being able to jump in my car!

We went to Silverstone last week was a lovely break from being at home, it’s very accessible so you know! hoping to do a few more things as my leg gets stronger will update how accessible other places are and aren’t!

Here’s a picture of me in my chair being an F1 fan had to be sat in P1 if you know you know 🥰
