We've packed up and gone camping for a few days... I love it!

I'm very lucky to have such beautiful countryside on my doorstep in Cornwall, but wherever you are, search out your local green space and get outside.

We're all super busy and it's easy to let the day go by without getting outside.

But fresh air can make us feel sooooo much better.

It can wake you up if you're tired and allow you to de-stress!

If you can get somewhere in nature that's amazing, but even if you just step outside your door and go for a walk at lunchtime.

You'll be surprised how much better you feel for it.

You want to lose weight so you go on a diet. What happens then is you've told yourself you can't have this, you can't have that, and you feel deprived.

And we all know when we can't have something we want it more!

You're constantly thinking about food and it gets pretty overwhelming pretty quickly.

So don't go on a diet!

I'm not saying don't lose weight, but let's think about it another way.

Let's make some lifestyle changes. Let's make them small and manageable and build them up slowly.

So I'm not great at gardening and honestly I don't love it! BUT, I do want to enjoy a nice garden this summer. This time of year when I look at the garden and the amount of work that needs to be done I find it quite overwhelming.

Why am I telling you this? What has this got to do with weight loss and a healthy lifestyle Kellie?

Well it's all about mindset!

My first reaction to the overwhelm of how much I need to do in the garden is to say arrrrghhhh and do nothing, to put it off to another day.

Do you do this with your weight loss. Is it so overwhelming you don't know where to start? Does it just feel like too much to do? So you do nothing, you'll start next week / after an event / when the kids are back at school etc etc. It never quite happens.

So this year I decided not to focus on the whole garden, but just one job at a time. I started with the pots on the patio as that was very doable.

Once that was done, it looked nice and I was pleased I did it. So I then decided to clear the weeds from a raised bed. I need to plant some veggies in their now it's cleared so that's my next very doable job.

There's still loads to do but I'm just focusing on one thing at a time and getting it done.

You can apply the same mindset to your weight loss goals. Change one small thing at a time. The success will feel good and so you'll do the next small thing.

Before you know it all the small things will add up and you'll have lost weight.

✨ Better not perfect!✨

This is always my mantra and here's why...

We are all human beings and therefore we will not be perfect. When we place such high expectations on ourselves and ultimately fail to live up to them we feel like a failure.

When trying to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle this feeling of failure is often what drives us back towards our old habits.

Do you do this?

If so, this is why you need to meet yourself where you're at.

It's from this place we make small, manageable changes that add up to success.

Try to make better choices everyday and understand you won't be perfect.

I assure you I'm far from perfect and honestly, I don't want to be. I enjoy a Friday night glass of wine and the odd yummy pudding / cheese board. I just don't do it everyday.

To be perfect would be very boring!
