As professional piercers, we are regulated and legally required to follow strict laws, health regulations, and insurance policies — especially when it comes to age restrictions for piercings. These rules are not optional, and they are there to protect both the client and the practitioner.
I want to make this absolutely clear: I will NOT risk my licence, insurance, reputation, or business by performing piercings on someone who is underage for that specific piercing under Welsh law. Parental consent does NOT override the law where age restrictions are in place.
Please do not ask me to “turn a blind eye,” “make an exception,” or compare me to someone else who “will do it anyway.” If another piercer is willing to break the law, then maybe the real questions should be:
• Why are they willing to risk breaking the law for a piercing?
• Why would a parent encourage or allow their child to break the law just because they want something done?
• Is that really responsible?
I also won’t tolerate abuse, attitude, or people getting arsey because I’ve said no. Saying no isn’t me being difficult — it’s me doing my job professionally, ethically, and legally.
At the end of the day, my responsibility is to keep people safe and to operate within the law. If that upsets some people, so be it — my integrity and professional standards matter more.
