There were serious faces, strategic minds and a few suspicious glances as residents got stuck into a competitive game of UNO🤨

Most kept their cards close to their chest so it was impossible to predict a winner. 👀
Draw Fours were played, directions were reversed and alliances were questioned. But when Brian celebrated his victory, the cards went flying. 🏆

Who would have thought that a colourful pack of cards could bring out such competitive spirits?🙌

🐦 Forget-me-not Bird Bingo!

This week Alison hosted a competitive but very chatty game of Bird Bingo. 🐦‍⬛
It took longer than expected as every bird sparked a memory and a story.😀
Residents reminisced about the noisy starlings taking over Brighton Pier, the suspiciously motionless heron at Dunorlan Park, and of course the greedy seagulls in Hastings.🐟🍟

There was lots of laughter and a debate whether the heron was a bird, a statue or an undercover park keeper.👀
A wonderful afternoon full of memories, friendship and feathered fun.🤩

🏆🎂 The winner of the Country Court Bake-Off Competition is... Charlotte Legge from Castor Lodge Care Home! 🎂🏆

Charlotte wowed the judges with her incredible campervan-themed birthday cake, featuring four delicious layers: Coffee & Walnut, Lemon Drizzle, Red Velvet and Victoria Sponge. Inspired by an era loved by residents, the ambitious design showcased exceptional creativity, skill and attention to detail.

This year's competition celebrated the amazing birthday cakes our teams lovingly create for residents and colleagues, making special occasions even more memorable. Judged on presentation, taste, innovation and baking skill, the standard was incredibly high.

A huge congratulations also goes to our fantastic finalists:

A Golden Retriever visited our home today with her trainer, Sarah Wilson - fresh from their success at Crufts 🏆
Residents enjoyed meeting Elsa,watching her amazing skills and spending time with a friendly, gentle companion. 😍
Sarah’s visit brought plenty of smiles and wonderful memories for everyone.

Today Diana Springall, renowned textile designer, led a wonderful botanical art session. 🍃✏️
With just a sketch pad and pencil in hand,residents spent the afternoon observing, drawing and discussing their favourite plants.🪴
The session sparked creativity and concentration - with many accurate and beautiful drawings produced along the way. 👏
