Specialised Orthotic Services Ltd was established in 1980 by its founder and MD, Gordon McQuilton MBE. This followed his work on the development of the ‘Derby Moulded Seat (MSI)’ whilst at the Orthotics and Disabilities Research Centre at Derby Royal Infirmary hospital. His vast experience and expertise working within the NHS provided a greater understanding of the day to day issues which effect h

ealthcare professionals and their clients. We have grown year-on-year by working closely with healthcare professionals to provide solutions for a range of clinical needs which help improve the health of our users as well as their wellbeing. Each client is individually assessed so we provide a product which suits their exacting needs. Today, SOS offer a large range of specialist seating suitable for even the most complex postures. Including the award winning 'P'Pod, Nessie, Sleep-Pod and a range of modular and custom moulded seating. We also provide our own range of Wheelbases through our MoJo and Miko Wheelbase. The training provided valuable insights for our SOS staff, OTs, and Rehab Technicians, equipping everyone involved in seating and lying assessments with practical tools for effective posture management.

We’re proud to be hosting the Oxford Posture Management Course over the next few days, a postgraduate programme designed to equip healthcare professionals with advanced skills in 24-hour posture management for individuals with complex physical disabilities.

This year, we’ve welcomed a fantastic group of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and valued partners to take part.
We’re looking forward to a collaborative few days of learning, sharing expertise, and improving outcomes for those we support.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Newlyn Healthcare team to our facility in Tutbury this week. We were proud to showcase our factory floor and give an insight into our full manufacturing process, with everything designed and made in-house right here.

The sessions went exceptionally well, with excellent feedback from both staff and parents. The Moxie made a great impression, and we’re really pleased with how successful the day was overall.

✨Yesterday we had a fantastic time at the Gloucestershire Equipment Demonstration Day, showcasing some of our key specialist seating and mobility solutions.✨

The day included demonstrations of the PPOD seating range, Home Chair, Sleep Pod, T-Max, and the Wenzelite range, with attendees having the opportunity to explore product features and positioning options.
It was great to meet with therapists and professionals, answer questions, discuss user needs, and demonstrate how these products can support comfort, posture, mobility, and everyday independence🤩
