Specialised Orthotic Services Ltd was established in 1980 by its founder and MD, Gordon McQuilton MBE. This followed his work on the development of the ‘Derby Moulded Seat (MSI)’ whilst at the Orthotics and Disabilities Research Centre at Derby Royal Infirmary hospital. His vast experience and expertise working within the NHS provided a greater understanding of the day to day issues which effect h

ealthcare professionals and their clients. We have grown year-on-year by working closely with healthcare professionals to provide solutions for a range of clinical needs which help improve the health of our users as well as their wellbeing. Each client is individually assessed so we provide a product which suits their exacting needs. Today, SOS offer a large range of specialist seating suitable for even the most complex postures. Including the award winning 'P'Pod, Nessie, Sleep-Pod and a range of modular and custom moulded seating. We also provide our own range of Wheelbases through our MoJo and Miko Wheelbase. We're delighted to welcome Kat to the Community Equipment team.

Kat brings with her a wealth of experience, having spent 4 years within the NHS, working across both paediatric and adult community physiotherapy services as a Senior Assistant, followed by 4 years as a Product Specialist specialising in slings and shower chairs.

With a strong patient and client-first approach, Kat is passionate about finding the right solutions to help people maintain their independence, comfort and quality of life. 🫶

Outside of work, Kat is a proud mum of two who keeps her busy and firmly on her toes. As she puts it, motherhood is currently her main hobby, leaving little time for much else!

We're excited to have Kat on board and look forward to the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm she'll bring to the team.

Our Clinic Manager & Community Equipment Specialist, Ross, will be running the Great North Run on 13th September to raise money for Get Kids Going 🏃‍➡️
Every day, Ross helps children and adults access specialist wheelchairs and equipment. Now, he's taking on a personal challenge to support a charity that provides disabled young people with sports wheelchairs, grants, and opportunities to participate in sport.

"I spend my working life helping people find the right wheels. This time, I'm hoping to use my own two feet to help get more kids going."

It was fantastic to connect with healthcare professionals & therapists, demonstrating how these innovative products can support mobility, independence, and confidence in everyday life.
