This week is National Obesity Awareness Week (UK).

Obesity remains one of the most complex public health challenges we face today. In the UK, 1 in 4 adults are living with obesity, with significant consequences for individuals and the healthcare system.

Obesity is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and reduced quality of life, while also placing growing pressure on healthcare resources.

Like many other healthcare systems, the costs to the NHS are projected to double to £10 billion per year by 2050!

Addressing obesity requires more than awareness alone. It calls for evidence-led education, inclusive dialogue, and responsible medical communications that support understanding, reduce stigma, and enable long-term, sustainable change.

At Prime, we believe clear, credible communication has a vital role to play in shaping better conversations and better outcomes across healthcare.

Ever wondered how future leaders in life-science communications are made? 💡

At Prime, we’re shaping them through our Changemakers programme; a six-month learning journey designed to develop leadership, critical thinking, and practical skills that participants can use every day across medical, access, marketing, patient affairs, innovation, and digital.

Through hands-on workshops, peer learning, guest expert sessions, and online modules, participants explore a wide range of topics within medical communications.

The first stream focuses on omnichannel strategy, communications, and AI tools for smarter, more connected decision-making.

Grounded in evidence-based behaviour change models, our Changemakers programme reflects our commitment to nurturing talent, building confidence, and setting the standard for medical affairs ex.

We’re proud to invest in our people 🤝

As 2025 draws to a close, we’ve been taking the time to pause, reflect and recognise all the hard work of our teams over the past year, and what better way to celebrate than with some festive fun together! 🎄

From our virtual Mystery on the Polar Express (part escape room, part murder mystery!) for our remote colleagues, to festive lunches and parties across the UK and US, we’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable end to a great year at Prime.

A huge thank you to each and every one of our colleagues for their dedication this year, and special thanks to those who organised our end-of-year activities and helped spread a little extra festive cheer 🩵

This week, we’re shining a light on Becca Wylie-Dancs, Associate Director, Scientific Services 👋

Becca has been in MedComms for over 8 years and joined the Prime team in February 2022.

Her favourite moments so far? Meeting clients face-to-face, supporting a recent standalone event in Lisbon, and helping to facilitate other congress activities for our clients.

As part of our AI Changemakers program, Becca has also been immersed in AI publications, developing prompts and assessing the quality of AI-generated content. She finds it exciting to see continuing to evolve first hand.

Whether it’s training, extra support, a second opinion, or senior review, Becca ensures the right people are on the right projects, the team’s skills are developing, and workloads stay balanced.

Outside of work, you’ll find Becca enjoying the outdoors with her husband, their two-year-old son, and their distinguished Whippet, Sir Twiglet 🐶

The festive season can be especially difficult for those facing financial hardship or unsafe domestic situations, often without access to essentials many of us take for granted.

This year, our London, Knutsford and New York offices, along with our UK- and US-based remote teams, have been donating to local organisations that provide food, shelter and warmth to those who need it most 💙

Swipe to learn more about the community partners we’re working with and the vital support they offer 👉

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Together, we can help make the season a little brighter.

A week on from this year’s San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and Gaurav Kumar summarises it brilliantly:

“The SABCS is a treasure trove of scientific advancements and networking opportunities. I was particularly captivated by the innovations in early-stage breast cancer. One of the standout moments was witnessing the first significant advancement with oral SERD results in early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer in two decades. This achievement felt especially significant and marks a notable shift in the adjuvant treatment landscape.” 🔬

Thank you to everyone for the thoughtful discussions, debates, and valuable contributions.
