This summer, skip the airport queues and discover the magic of Britain's coastline. 🌊

No flights. No baggage restrictions. No long travel days.

Sea & lake swims, coastal walks, fresh air, beautiful views, and time to slow down.

Sometimes the most memorable adventures are closer to home than we think.

Anglesey, 3 & 4 night yoga and wild swimming retreats this August.

A ten-minute walk helps. So does the early morning hour to self and the closed laptop in the evening.

But sometimes the pockets aren't enough. Sometimes you need to step away properly, far enough that the list can't follow you, long enough that your shoulders actually drop.

That's what a few days away gives you. Not just rest, but the kind where someone else has handled the food, the plan, the details and the only thing left to do is be looked after for once.

We've two retreats coming up, both yoga and wild swimming, both with a few spaces:

🌊 Anglesey, August - salt air, sea swims, barefoot mornings and long summer light.

πŸ‚ Lake District, September - private lake frontage, misty early swims and the first soft turn towards autumn.

Both led by Laura Bell, founder and teacher here at Zest Life.

Stepping away isn't time taken from your life. It's what lets you come back to it.

In my late twenties, I suggested at a staff meeting that everyone might benefit from a proper lunch break. A walk, some air, ten minutes away from the desk. I genuinely believed it would help, our health, the mood in the office, even the work itself.
My boss shut it down in one line: "If you want a break, you can go and work for the council, where you get three a day." Everyone put their heads down, and the meeting ended.

I didn't last long there. But it taught me something I've carried ever since: no one is coming to tell you to stop. Not your boss, not your inbox, not the endless list at home. You have to learn what's good for you, and then give it to yourself.

It only gets truer in midlife with shifting energy, broken sleep, the mental load that never quite switches off. Doing more stops working. What helps is the opposite: protecting a little time that's yours, before the day fills up.

So take the walk. Take the lunch break no one's offering. Claim the early hour before the house wakes. It isn't time taken from the day, it's what lets you meet the day with peace.

I've written more about this on the Zest Life journal, including the one approach that's helped me most. Link in bio. 🀍

Sometimes all you need is a week away from the demands of everyday life.

A week where someone else does the cooking.
A week where your biggest decision is whether to swim, read or stretch out in the sunshine.
A week where you remember what it feels like to put yourself first.

The first retreat has sold out, our second Ibiza retreat is almost full, with just a few places remaining.

Could this be the year you finally say yes?

There's a particular kind of calm that only comes from being in wild water.

Our late-summer swim retreats are open, two chances to swap the noise for slow mornings, open water and proper rest. Join us in Anglesey this August, or as the season turns in September head to the Lake District.

Yoga, wild swimming, beautiful food and small groups in stunning surroundings. The kind of few days you come home from feeling like yourself again.

A few places left for August. If your summer has been all about everyone else, this is your nudge to claim some of it back.

Twenty-five years ago, I broke my back.

A perfectly ordinary wave threw our boat into the air off the coast of Perth, and in a single moment the course of my life changed. I spent six weeks lying flat, learning patience the hard way.

When I finally got to walk again and made my way back to the UK, a doctor told me to try yoga as part of my rehabilitation. I opened the Yellow Pages, found a class, and watched my body and my life quietly get better.

Yoga has carried me ever since. Through worry and stress, pregnancies and break-ups, high days and low ones. And these days, in midlife, I lean on it most for the parts no one can see: the breath, the stillness, the steadiness.

It isn't complicated, and you don't need to touch your toes. Slow movement and steady breath are simply how we tell the nervous system it's safe to soften.

I've written the whole story in our journal this week. Take the time to read it, you'll find the link in our bio. 🀍

When was the last time you truly switched off?

Not checking emails.
Not thinking about what's for dinner.
Not planning the next thing on the list.

Just a few days where someone else takes care of everything.

And the best part?

You don't need to board a plane to find it.

No airport queues.
No early morning flights.
No luggage restrictions.
No complicated travel plans.

Just a beautiful location here on Anglesey, easy to reach and a world away from everyday life.

Imagine spending your days practising yoga, swimming in clear waters, walking in nature, enjoying delicious food and connecting with like-minded guests.

Returning home feeling rested, refreshed and more like yourself again.

Sometimes the escape you need is closer than you think.
