Card 1 ~ 🔮 Maleficent.
5. A Parliament of Rooks. 🐦⬛
Seeking justice or consensus, all voices must be heard, brainstorming, participating, constructive criticism.
The larger corvids, -ravens, crows, and rooks are among the most respected creatures in the forest and in the wide world beyond. They have a reputation for telling the truth, proclaiming important information, and foretelling circumstances and consequences. They gather to discuss serious matters and resolve differences, not just for their own kind but for others as well, for their judicial expertise is highly valued. The collective name for a gathering of rooks is a parliament. (They are also known as a building or a storytelling, depending upon the purpose of their gathering.) This parliament has come together to speak of matters pertaining to nesting home rules, politics both magical and mundane, controversies, and infractions against common corvid law. The discussion is raucous but not rancorous. Many voices may speak at once, but in the end every voice is heard. Some of these rooks have traveled a good distance to attend, and their perspectives and points of view are especially welcome. A corvid mind is not a closed mind.
THE ORACLE'S ADVICE: Listening and talking are equally
important. Your input is essential. Offer your intelligence in every sense of the word: perception, understanding, insight, and information. Don't let your voice be drowned out. Engage in matters that concern your world. If you see a problem, participate in the solution.
LOREKEEPER'S NOTE: Crows chose their collective name, "a murder of crows," to discourage intruders and give themselves a certain edge, which they enjoy. Likewise for the ravens, known collectively as "an unkindness of ravens," which they find hilarious. Most ravens are quite kind.

Card 2 ~ 🐙 Ursula the Sea Witch.
10. The Swans Sister. 🦢
Devotion, tasks performed for loved ones, selflessness, dedication to a higher cause.
Once there were seven brothers who, through no fault of their own, were put under a cruel spell that turned them into swans. That is how the tale is usually told-how the brothers suffered cruelly because they had to live as swans. In truth, being a swan is not such an awful fate, certainly not when compared to other forest curses. No, the one who suffers under this spell is the one left behind. To restore her brothers to human form, their sister is obliged to make seven magical shirts by hand, using gold yarn spun from nettles. All the while she works, she must remain above ground in a tree, barefoot and bareheaded, and not utter a word. Passersby stop to question her, to offer help, or to taunt and torment her, but she is steadfast and serene. Her love for her brothers keeps her strong and brave, never wavering from her task. When the seven shirts are done, she will cast them over the beautiful swans and break the spell.
THE ORACLE'S ADVICE: It is a delicate balance between
focusing on the task at hand and longing for its completion. The thought of the reward is what keeps us going, yet it can be stressful to yearn toward that fulfillment. Be inspired, not obsessed. Give your whole to what is in front of you, and be assured that the seemingly unending task will indeed end.
LOREKEEPER'S NOTE: Spinning a rough substance into something precious is a magical task given to prove worthiness, as well as a chosen occupation for those who like a challenge. The swans' sister learned to spin nettles into gold from another skilled woman in the forest who is an expert in the craft.

Card 3 ~ 🍎 The Evil Queen.
20. The Witch in the Glen. 🧹
Compassion and care, unconditional love, bodily healing and recovery, love for and from the animals, vocation of the heart.
She has a name, of course. But if you happen to have, say, an injured rabbit, people will tell you, "Take it to the Witch in the Glen," and you know who they mean. She has a ten-der heart, a firm touch, and a gift for healing animals that is remarkable even among witches. This is the work she was born to do, and it is also the delight of her heart. When those two things come together, miracles of healing are possible. Though she is a solitary spirit, she is rich in love, for all the creatures of the forest trust her and call her friend. The fiercest badger cuddles contentedly in her arms, and every spring brings expectant mole and mice mamas looking for a sheltering spot to give birth. It's a brave vocation, to be sure, to deal so closely with pain, but she has willingly chosen this life of profound compassion. When something you love becomes something you're good at, that is your life's work.
THE ORACLE'S ADVICE: It may be time to consult a skilled healer. Find someone you can trust with your well-being and who will encourage you to take care of yourself too. Don't put off taking care of lingering problems. Be extra tender with those who are entrusted to your care, whether human or animal. Remember that love is the ultimate healer.
LOREKEEPER'S NOTE: This witch makes house calls, as you
might guess from her cloak and staff and her pockets full of potions. Recently she was called to assist at the hatching of an orphan wyvern rescued by a wizard. Wyverns are born breathing fire, of course, so care must be taken. Baby and papa are both doing well, and everyone's burns are healing nicely.
