With EMPOWER our aim was to help you ladies take back control of your health and fitness, as well as regain your lost confidence, and we feel we’ve been pretty successful in doing so. After all our testimonials speak for themselves (which we are happy to share!).

🚣‍♂️ Single Arm Dumbbell Row 🚣‍♀️

👍 A great exercise to develop the upper back.... if done correctly!

👂 Listen up to some golden nuggets of information provided by Liam!

✅ One of the biggest benefits to the Dumbbell Row is that it works either side independently of the other (unilaterally).

💪 This means that it can help iron out any strength differences between your dominant and non-dominant side and keep your posture and physique balanced.

Another great exercise that should be a part of most training programs in order to keep them balanced ⚖️

The King of Glute Exercises....

👑 HIP THRUST 👑 (Kindly demonstrated by Liam)
. even though Phil mistakenly called it a Glute bridge in the video 🙈🙈🙈.

Cracking exercise to build a shapely bottom! However, beyond just a round peach 🍑, the Hip Thrust has a lot of carry over benefits to other activities.

✅ The Hip Thrust will benefit all of your lower body lifts such as squats and deadlifts. Who doesn’t want a better squat and deadlift?!

✅ The Hip Thrust will also help with sprinting, jumping, boxing, martial arts and beyond. It’s a key exercise that’s often over looked for its benefit to sport.

✅ Lastly, the Hip Thrust is fantastic for your posture. If you suffer knee or hip pain then stengthing your glutes through the Hip Thrust can often provide relief.

In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger.....

The second exercise in our program is the

⭐️ 🚣‍♀️ Barbell Row 🚣‍♀️ ⭐️

A Barbell Row is one of the most functional, full body movements you can do as demonstrated by Liam!

💪 It recruits almost the entirety of your upper back muscles along with your lower back and core!

It’s also great for improving your posture, which is vital when half of us spend all our times on phones, laptops or in front of the tele!

So if you’re not doing as part of your current training get it put in there!

While we’ve been talking about programming we thought it best to share one of our more recent EMPOWER programs! 💪

We wanted to give you an idea 💡 of how we train our group of ladies to get the absolute most out of their bodies 🏋️‍♀️ so here is one of our Full Body Pull programmes.

Why full body?

🥇 Essentially it burns hella calories compared to your traditional bro split. If you’ve ever done a bro split program (Chest > Back > Shoulders > Legs > Arms) you’ll know that the hardest day by far is generally legs, followed by one of the major upper body parts, whereas shoulders and arms tend to be a bit of a nothing work out.

🥈 It’s vastly more time efficient. The max we train the EMPOWER ladies is 3 x a week because they all lead busy family or career driven lives. They don’t have time to come to the gym 5-6 times a week so we need to make sure they’re getting the absolute most out of their sessions every time they step in the gym.

🥉 Our ladies goals are multifaceted. Yes they want to look their best, that’s a given! But they also want to feel their best and be fit, athletic and healthy. Our bodies are designed to perform all sorts of different activities; lifting, running, jumping, carrying! These activities require us to use a whole host of different muscles, so why not train all these muscles at once and reap the benefits of each?

Over the rest of this week we’re going to show you the exercises with a host of videos detailing the techniques behind them, and why we’ve chose the exercises we have!

🗺 What is programming & why is it important? 💪

We all know when we want to get something done, we decide to put a plan in place so we get to where we want to be ASAP. That should be no different with your health & fitness goals.

When a plan is made correctly you should be getting the most out of every training session as well as progressing along the way. This is what programming is all about.

Programming is the map to where you want to get to. It should be tailored to whatever your goal is. A program will give you structure & direction, it will keep you accountable, and it will give you confidence in your ability as you hit PB’s with your training.

Part of your programming are your session plans. A session plan tells you what exercises you’re doing, along with how many reps per set, how many sets per exercise, along with rest times.

Here at Empower, our focus is to get the very best out of you in all aspects of fitness. Strength, Power, Cardio, endurance…. basically your overall performance! While making any necessary adjustments based on your individual capabilities. It’s because of this that EMPOWER is suited for all, regardless of level of fitness, ability or gym experience

Reasons to why you need a program

❌ Coming into the gym, and doing it off the cuff. Not following the training split correctly means your body doesn’t adapt and you have little to no chance to progress your lifts.
Monday - Chest
Tuesday - Back
Wednesday - ermm Chest again.

✅ The structure of a program will stop this. Every session you know what lifts your doing, what reps and weight you you need to hit in order to progress.

❌ Sticking to the same program for too long. Did a program once when you was 18, it worked but your still doing it at 30 and your not improving. The progressive element has gone!

✅ A well designed program will rotate lifts/ rep ranges to promote stimulus, growth, improvement as well as prevent your boredom.

❌ Home truth! You’re not working hard during your gym time. You’re on your phone, talking, not resally paying attention to any rest times or pushing yourself.

✅The Empower program will not allow you to train at 50%. The specific rest times are there for a reason, stick to them. 100% effort = 100% results. You also have a pair of PTs keeping you honest 😈.

❌Final point... The all or nothing method which leads to over training. Hitting the gym 7x a week, weights and half hour cardio on the end of every session, going to bed late, up early for a shift at work. Eventually the body will slow down. There’s not time for recovery so everything just starts going backwards after a while.

✅ Recovery is very important. The Empower program is designed to have a week deload. We allow you guys to take a step back. 1 week away from the heavy lifting, pedal to the metal conditioning, and implement a week of a different training method to allow your body to recover.

There are many training programs and methods to folow. But here at Empower, this is our method
