Congratulations to Ben Tonks on successfully completing his apprenticeship as an Engineering Design and Draughtsperson (Structural).

Ben has achieved an overall Merit in his End Point Assessment - a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, commitment and dedication he has shown throughout the programme.

Pictured with Marc Johnson, Head of Technical, Ben's success highlights the importance of investing in skills, development and the next generation of engineering talent within Thurston.

When a complex project demands a partner proven to deliver, Thurston is brought in.

We recently manufactured and installed three payment kiosk units at Waterloo Station, working alongside SIS Projects UK as principal contractor.

The challenge centred on planning, access and delivery within a live station environment. Access was heavily restricted, space within the concourse was tight, and installation could only take place during a narrow overnight window when the station was closed to the public.

Close collaboration between our factory and site teams was critical, ensuring the units arrived with the minimum amount of work required on site. This reduced risk during installation and simplified delivery within the tight overnight window.

We’re incredibly proud to be supporting our Financial Controller, Matt Gough, as he takes on the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon again this May.

Last year, Matt, his dad Andrew, and Richard completed the 26.2 miles together pushing Andrew around the course in an assisted wheelchair. It was their first marathon, and together they raised just under £14,000 for MND.

Andrew was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS), a rare form of Motor Neurone Disease, in early 2024. Inspired by Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield, they’re going again raising money, awareness, and hope for those affected.

176 Easter eggs. One brilliant team effort.

A big thank you to everyone at Wakefield -and to our friends at HBC Electrical Ltd - for supporting this year’s Easter Egg Appeal.

All donations have now been delivered to the Community Foundation Wakefield District, each one represents a small moment of joy for someone who needs it this Easter.

A special thank you to Joanne Ainslie for coordinating the collection and making everything run smoothly.
