Do you live with a long term gut condition?

Living with long-term conditions such as Crohn’s disease, IBD, colitis, IBS and fibromyalgia can affect every part of daily life — from fatigue and pain to work, self-care and mental wellbeing.

Occupational Therapy can help people manage symptoms, conserve energy, build routines, adapt activities, reduce stress and maintain independence so they can continue doing the things that matter most to them.

If ill health or long-term sickness is affecting your work, OT4Life can also help liaise with employers to support reasonable adjustments, phased returns, workplace support and strategies to help you remain in or return to work safely and confidently.

OT4Life can provide Vocational Occupational Health assessments and we visit you at home, within 2-3 weeks from receiving your referral.

End of another week and honestly… this is why we love Occupational Therapy.

This week alone we’ve gone from cognitive rehabilitation and fatigue management work, to a classic OT access assessment by the seaside looking at adaptations, equipment provision and helping someone stay independent in the place they actually want to live.

And now we round the week off the best way possible… a room full of likeminded clinicians at the National Back Exchange Yorkshire meeting, probably ending up rolling around on the floor discussing transfers, movement, posture and why none of us can ever “just sit normally” anymore.

One of the things I love most about OT is the sheer variety. One minute you’re deep in cognitive strategy work and emotional adjustment, the next you’re measuring bathrooms, problem solving access, discussing pressure care, or debating slide sheets over a brew.

No two days are the same and that’s exactly how it should be.

Here’s to another week of maximising ability in disability, keeping people safe, independent and doing the things that matter to them most.

Now… time for a day off before next week starts throwing more chaos at us. 👌
