Information on accessibility and our hospitals from Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

We're committed to making our hospitals more accessible and inclusive for all. To help with this, we offer a range of accessible services for patients, visitors, and staff.

Across our sites, AccessAble access guides provide information on things such as signage, colour contrast, and lighting as well as automatic doors, ramps, toilet facilities and parking.

We offer a translations service upon request via a healthcare professional, as well as translations where possible for Easy-Read and BSL for our patient information leaflets.

Our trust website also offers an accessibility tool called ReachDeck which can do the following functions:

👉translate webpages
👉text resizing and page magnification
👉change the colours (contrast) of our site

Please note, our translation tool pulls information via Google Translate and may not always be accurate, especially with medical terminology.

It's Carers Week.
Nearly half of unpaid carers feel their role is not understood and valued by their community.
We value you. Talk to us if you need advice, support, or signposting to health and care services and/or help.

Nearly half of unpaid carers feel their role is not understood and valued by their community.

Today we launch our Building Carer Friendly Communities report. It explores carers’ experiences and sets out the action needed, by the Government and by communities across the UK, to bring about greater recognition and support for unpaid carers.

As Volunteer Week comes to a close, we’d like to say another big thank you.
To all our volunteers over the years, and the staff who looked after them then and now.
To our Panel Participants who help us shape local mental health and adult social care services.
Not forgetting our trustees, who give up their time to share their knowledge and skills.
We can’t do what we do without you.

Local people with disabilities can now travel on Wakefield District buses for FREE at any time of day - including before 9.30 am on weekdays!

Big news for Wakefield 🚌

From today, people with disabilities can travel on Wakefield buses for FREE at any time of day - including before 9.30am on weekdays.

We're trialling this change in Wakefield first, with plans to roll it out across the whole of West Yorkshire next year.

That means better access to jobs, training and everyday life for disabled pass holders and their companions and this is just the start.
