πŸ’§ Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) in Older Adults
During Urology Awareness Month, we want to highlight that UTIs can present very differently in older adults. Instead of the classic burning sensation, signs of a UTI in an older relative might include:
β€’ Sudden confusion or agitation (delirium)
β€’ Worsening mobility or increased falls
β€’ Loss of appetite
β€’ Incontinence
If you notice a sudden change in an elderly loved one, it could be a UTI. Contact Miriam Primary Care Group or call NHS 111 for advice.

🫁 Asthma Care: Are you using your inhaler correctly?
As part of Pulmonary Awareness Month, we want to remind our patients with asthma that correct inhaler technique is crucial. Using your inhaler properly ensures the medicine gets straight into your lungs where it's needed most.
β€’ Do you use a spacer? (It can make a huge difference!)
β€’ Have you had your annual asthma review at Miriam Primary Care Group?
If you feel your asthma is getting worse, or you're using your reliever (blue) inhaler more than three times a week, book an appointment with our respiratory nurse today.

πŸ’Š Help Us Tackle Medicine Wastage in Wirral
Did you know that unused prescription medicines cost the NHS in our region hundreds of thousands of pounds every year? This is money that could be spent on vital local frontline healthcare.
How you can help:
1. Check before you order: Look in your medicine cabinet before requesting your repeat prescription.
2. Only order what you need: If you don't need a specific medication this month, don't order it. It will remain on your repeat list for next time.
3. Don't stockpile: Having extra medicines at home can be dangerous.
4. Speak to your pharmacist: If you have stopped taking a medication, let us know!
