☀️ SUMMER HOLIDAYS ARE COMING… WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO? ☀️

The summer holidays are full of adventures, family days out, parks, beaches, paddling pools, bike rides and play dates.

But accidents and emergencies don’t take a holiday.

Would you know what to do if a child stopped breathing?

If they were choking?

Had a seizure?

Suffered a burn or serious fall?

M.A.S.T RESPONSE are bringing a series of practical, one-hour Paediatric First Aid sessions to Wallsend, designed to give parents, grandparents, carers and childcare professionals the confidence to act when it matters most.

Wednesdays | 11:30am – 12:30pm

❤️ 5th August – Session 1: Paediatric CPR & AED
❤️ 12th August – Session 2: Choking
❤️ 19th August – Session 3: Minor Injuries, Cuts, Bruises & Burns
❤️ 26th August – Session 4: Seizures, Shock & Drowning

💷 Just £5 per session
Each session lasts one hour and focuses on practical skills that could help save a child’s life.

Places are limited and booking is essential.

🌊 WATER SAFETY MATTERS – ESPECIALLY DURING HOT WEATHER ☀️

When the sun comes out, many of us head to the beach, rivers, lakes, paddling pools or swimming pools to cool off. While water is a great way to enjoy the warmer weather, it’s important to remember that it can also be dangerous.

Did you know that drowning can happen in just a few centimetres of water, particularly for babies and young children?

A few simple precautions can make all the difference:

💙 Never swim alone.
💙 Never leave children unattended near water - not even for a moment.
💙 Swim where lifeguards are present whenever possible.
💙 Wear a life jacket if boating or if you’re not a confident swimmer.
💙 Be aware of cold water, currents and your own limits.
💙 Avoid alcohol or drugs before swimming.

If someone gets into difficulty:

📞 Call 999 immediately.

🛟 Reach or Throw – Don’t Go. Use a pole, rope or flotation aid to help them if you can, rather than entering the water yourself unless you’re trained to do so.

❤️ If they’re not breathing once they’re out of the water, begin CPR if you know how and continue until emergency services arrive.

With the hotter weather here and the summer holidays fast approaching, it is important to stay safe and be as visible as possible. The wide range of clothing colours show up differently in various bodies of water. Here is a picture showing the differences in the colours and visibility.
