Flat knit vs. circular knit — what’s the difference?👇
Flat knit garments:
• Made with a firmer, more structured knitted fabric
• Less likely to roll or cut in
• Can accommodate more complex limb shapes and skin/tissue changes
• Often considered when swelling is more pronounced or tissue is difficult to contain
• Typically more expensive, particularly when custom-made
Circular knit garments:
• Seamless construction
• Generally thinner and more lightweight with greater stretch
• Commonly used for mild–moderate swelling and when limb shape is relatively regular
• Often more widely available and affordable
The best garment depends on your swelling, limb shape, tissue characteristics, lifestyle and ability to manage the garment 🧦
